I hate it when these big stores make major 'improvements' and end up selling loads of major household equipment, clothes, etc.. I can never find the food!!! Have stopped buying in Sainsburys and Asda because of this. |

Sorry to hear about your disappointing shopping expierience at Asda Paul.I had shopped at Tesco forever (22 years) and wasn't interested in trying any other supermarket. however after hearing from so many people about how 'wonderful' our new Asda store was I finaly decided to give it a month's trial starting October last year ( the shop has been there at least 2 years) and for me, I found it surprisingly better than Tesco, here are my reasons Their delicatessen has so much more choice Their bread and rolls are so much more tasty The shop is more spacious and bright, their staff are in bright green so they stand out better. I dont buy meat but am told that it's more lean. I haven't really noticed that it is any cheaper yet I'm sold by all the other advantages |

Know what you mean about the food Paul.....tasteless. And never buy online and have delivered, I did for a time last year.......never again! What they did not have in stock, they duplicated.....whether you liked it or not, even when specified NO substitutes! Often, they did not have what you wanted anyway. And then I noticed they were sending me stuff with only a day left before going out of date! Once they sent me a RANK......and I mean rank chicken.......you could smell it through the wrapping UGH!!!!! I got my cash back though. Everytime I get an email from Asda now I just delete it. Trish - read my previous update lol I've cooked most nights this week - made a lovely risotto the other night. However, I will admit that we're very disorganised. |

I have found that the Tesco staff are by far the friendliest and most attractive! lol |

Hi Paul, I'm going to make myself really popular with you now and say 'don't buy ready made meals - cook instead' .Just takes a bit of organisation if you're both working. Much tastier than all this cardboard stuff - as long as you don't burn it like I always do :-)))) Just seen your answer - it's taking me a long time to type as my space bar keeps jamming LOL |

The only thing I like about Asda is their clothes, as for food shopping you can forget it...............:o) x |

Are you near me then Alice ? We've been to the Ikea too W dont make a habit of ready meals, but tend to have one on the night we do our shopping, as we can't really be bothered to start cooking by the time we've finished work, been shopping, unpacked, walked the dog etc etc |

We use our asda for the staples as they are cheapest (the online shop is useful for heavy bulk items once a month), then pick up extras and luxury items from other shops on our travels as we see them. Cos asda is so cheap we have enough left to shop around for the luxuries. Angela |

i went there a fortnight ago on saturday - i was impressed! Thought it was aircraft hanger proportions althought the actual food bit wasn't massive. i dont buy ready meals though Needles to say had been to the Ikea next door first- AND parked straight away. Why does Ikea need so many Stairs? |

rather mundane subject for me I know but... We have a massive new Asda opened a month or so ago. We are spoilt for choice here really when it comes to food shopping, all the majors are here, but we never had an Asda. We usually shop at Tesco's. Well I can safely say we won't be using Asda much, and it seems not many more people are either ! I'm not impressed at all with the choice, value for money or quality of food. We did some shopping tonight, spent over £80 which isn't that unusual, but didn't really see any bargains. Bought a pasta bake ready meal for dinner - most bland tasteless thing I've had. Serves two, pasta and meatball bake. How many meatballs ? FOUR ! in total ! for two people !! RUBBISH !!! The sundied tomato Ciabbatta that we bought to go with is was tasteless too. I think we'll stick with tesco |
