Linda I agree I wouldn't buy perishables online cos the people who pick them aren't as fussy as I would be. But when it comes to a month's supply of tinned cat food, cat litter, washing powder - all the heavy/non perishable/non fragile stuff - I find it great to get one big load from asda. Then shopping trips are so much quicker and easier - I can browse the fresh food in supermarkets without lugging a huge cart of cans and boxes with me that have to be checked out. loaded in the car and unloaded. but Joe, Asda is Asda wherever you go... so if you like what they sell in your local one, then you'll like tis one too. On the plus side, it wasn't overcrowded, was easy to park, and only one person in front at the till. ps we're tried a similar pasta and meatball back from both tesco's and M&S and they're both LOVELY and this one was a complete waste of money. To be honest Trish is right - this meal sat in the oven for 40 minutes. Could have cooked a decent meal in that time (I make quite a decent pasta sauce). Its just laziness. |

Some 10 or so years ago I bought a 'fresh' chicken in Asda, When I got home and unwrapped it, it was off and stank to high heaven, even though the sell by date was a week ahead! I took it straight up to Environmental Health at the town hall. Upshot was that Asda's were fined £3,000. I do most of my food shopping online with Ocado (Waitrose), and the quality of their meat and poultry is excellent. So is their delivery service. A bit more expensive, but I think you get what you pay for. Dee x |

I hate Asda, and Tesco, usually shop in Sainsburys for essentials. I try to buy as much fresh stuff as possible from butcher, greengrocer and farmer's markets or local farm shop. All supermarkets seem to be concerned about is price, I for one want quality. |

I always have my shopping delivered by Asda. I found it a lot cheaper than Tesco and Sainsbury. I also love their bakery and deli. I have never had a problem and all the stuff is as fresh as I would pick it. I guess it must vary from store to store. Claire xx |

Paul you don't know how lucky you are to have a choice. We have the choice of 3 Supermarkets, and 2 of them are priced far too high for the likes of me! Granny |

We had a Safeway (my corner shop) but it never changed the store logo to Morrisons so I should have seen the writing on the wall..... They sold it to Waitrose :( Apparently we are a 'Market' town and Waitrose targeted 'Market Towns' and bought the sites from Morrisons. Ok we have a very bright, clean and pleasant shopping experience but the PRICES!!!!!......I miss all my Morrison bargains..... :(((( My next local is a huge Sainsburys but my weekly shopping bill has deffinetly gone up. Tesco and Asda are 8 miles and another Morrison 6 miles away :( Chris |

I love my Super U but it is a bit of a trek for you to use! When in the UK I use Tesco and Sainsbury as they are the nearest to where I visit. While working in the UK I saw behind the scenes in a quite a few of the supermarkets and Waitrose was by far the best. Jill xx :) |

We had a very nice Safeways that then became a Waitrose. So its either that or Aldi lol Not being a snob but Waitrose wins - just not keen on the prices. I have just got a Costco card through work so i am hoping i might be able to buy most of my shopping there once a month Tracey in very cold Rushden |

Paul! My hero! At last - someone else who shares my opinion of Asda! I don't even like Tesco much. Give me Sainsbury's or Waitrose any day, although St Alban's market takes some beating for fresh fruit, veg and fish. CB >|< |

Linda, We have 3 tesco's here, a a decent size, one of them HUGE. Right, my opinion of them all then. Just my opinion, you;re all entitled to yours :) Tesco's - best all round. Not the cheapest, but cheaper than most I've found, and because its so big, a reay good selection Sainsburys - one of the smaleler supermarkets here. Good food, but a litte more expensive. Waitrose - excellent quality food, but the smallest of the supermarkets. Don't shop there often, but always impressed when we do. Morrisons - don't like it. very cheap, but not very cherful Asda - see initial post Aldi/Lidl/Netto - I'm too much of a snob to shop there regularly (and thats part joke, part serious !). We pop in occasionally tho, just for odds and ends Paul |

How sad are we discussing supermarkets on a Friday night :) Anyway, it would be bad manners not to give you my opinion :)) Morrisons is best for offers such as BOGOFs. Tesco rates a little higher than Asda. Sainsbury's is just way too expensive and not worth it. I actually DO like Aldi and Lidl. The quality of food is way better and much tastier. I won't buy chicken nuggets for my kids anywhere else but I will buy them in Aldi as they are as pieces of real chicken breast so once in a while I'll buy them. I love their continental cold meats etc. My turkey crown for Christmas was from Aldi and it was so yummy and only cost 6.99!!! I like that they have different bits and pieces from other supermarkets. Hopefully we are getting a Lidl in our town by the end of the year. Don't understand people who think Aldi/Lidl are inferior and are too 'snobby' to buy there. They are bright, clean and have really friendly helpful staff. At least ours do! I'm much more impressed by those stores than the biggies. OK, nuff said :) Joanne ps - note to self 'must get out more' :) :) :) |
