Just a thought My dad had to have a heart procedure a couple of years ago, he takes wafarin, but was told to stop taking three days before hand.. On the day, and after being starved, the blood test he had that day showed that his blood was too thin. (he could have adverse bleeding) he had to go a few more days to let his blood thicken before they did the procedure. If thats the case, then it was unavoidable that the procedure was delayed, as everyones blood takes different amount of time to thicken. hope this helps Elaine x

Hi Bendy WEndy, I was so upset/ angry for you when I read what had happened to you that I could have marched to the hospital and paraded up and down in protest!! Trouble is, I think we are fairly powerless. Sometimes I worry about making a fuss in case it rebounds on the patient but I believe that if a complaint is put in writing they have to investigate it and the number of complaints affects their performance table, smething like that. They should 'pull their socks up!' Its all wrong . If it was my dad I would be livid! Make a fuss then perhaps they will traet future people with more respect and be more efficient! GOOD LUCK!! Love Chris

The irony is he was in the NHS hospital as a private patient. Needless to say, they can whistle for their bill!

its hard to believe how incompetent they can be sometimes at the hospitals. I went in last Monday and was desparate to get out on Tuesday (had a ill 2 year old at home) was told I could go have a scan at 9am but at 10 still not been so I went to nag and was told they had forgot to take my notes down. Finally got a scan at 2pm and got out a 4pm. No wonder theres never any free beds. Hope your dad gets sorted soon. Regards - Louise

Bendy Report 6 Feb 2006 19:20

My Dad was due to have a heart procedure done today and because of bearucratic incompetency his notes were lost, his blood test results were mislaid and after being starved for 12 hours (he's diabetic!) was told he had an adverse blood result and couldn't have his procedure today. He had several TIA's and was then SENT HOME! Tomorrow heads are going to roll!** Update** The blood result was a mess up at the clinic!! - they tried to tell Dad he's a haemophiliac and argued the toss when he said he wasn't. Second test showed he was telling the truth and that was when someone discovered the wrong blood results had been put with his notes!Dad is rescheduled for next Monday. It took a lot of hard work to persuade him to get treatment in the first place so this delay is no help at all. Thanks to all of you for your kindness.
