Hope it goes well next time! The administration often lets down the medical side, but they are as short of resources as everybody else. My daughter works in the x-ray library and although the hospital has grown enormously, the library and staff haven't, so she's been working 7 days a week to get the x-rays in and out for clinics. On a personal note I blocked a bed for three days because they couldn't give me a portable monitor for a 24 hour heart check and send me home until one came back from another patient. At £200 a day to maintain a bed it would have been cheaper to buy another monitor! And the time simple tests take to get through the laboratories. They work a 35 hour week: they should be at least double shifted. And pharmacies only open office hours: many patients kept in for hours/days waiting for drugs to be dispensed before they can be discharged. |

Wendy I would take this further and NOW ! A mix up like that may have resulted in the wrong drugs being given. Someone needs a slap and you need an appology and answers. Elaine x |

So sorry to hear about your Dad's troubles Wendy, I can sympathise. Also my son in law is diabetic and he couldn't go 12 hrs. without something to eat or he would go unconscious. Surely in this day and age with computers etc. files should not be lost. Hope your Dad has his operation soon and that he recovers well. Love to you and yours Mau xxx |

I feel for your Dad and the family, as it is a nerve racking time waiting to have a operation, to prepare yourselves and worry as you do, only to be told that it won't be happening after all is terrible. Im so sorry you have had to suffer this, i hope you get it sorted soon. Shirley Ann. |

Hi Wendy, You poor Dad ( and you). Hope he gets sorted asap. A positive bit about hospitals, I got to our local hospital this morning at 8 a.m. for a blood test, was given card number 35 and there were two people takin g the blood. Have had the test, popped into a shop to buy some bread and am home here at 9.15am writing this. Pity they can't all be so good. Linda |

I can well believe it. Have spent hours in hospitals, both as a patientand a counsellor and have concluded that the medical personnel are marvellous but let down by an incompetent administration. I once overheard the clerks, who had lost an x-ray saying 'The consultant will go mad - we've got time, send him (the patient) down for another x-ray'. X-rays are harmful and the effect is cumulative. My best wishes to your dad. len |
