Hi all Trifley, no more news on whether I go to Perth - so I dont think it will eventuate. Today I feel a little different, as I have a cold, and a bit miserable. Thanks for all the tips on cold remedies. I've been taking garlic for a long time now, and got straight on to the Action Cold tablets when the cold was only thinking about being one. Didnt do much around the house today - just a bit of overdue filing (despite my intentions to do lots) buggar buggar buggar. So our Mary is home tonight - I expect she will be on later or at least first thing in the morning. We will have to suggest she buys a laptop if she's gonna go travelling again. I was just thinking - all you'se visiting Yarrawonga - ya gonna have to send us poor peeps who couldnt go, some updates on your activities (when you are sober, that is) pms See ya Jood

Oh Trifley, You've reminded me about something my Mum used to do - I'm talking 1960's and 70's here, but she used to write to companies all the time with comments about their stuff- always a compliment first, butter them up, then the suggestion how to improve and her sad story about how their product didn't meet her expectations - she got lots of little freebies back then !! Once we got a carton of toilet rolls ( I was mortified - we had to pick them up at the Railway Station - Everyone in Town KNEW!!!!!) LOL 'waving to everyone' Heather in Albury

Afternoon Wattlers I received a phone call this morning from Nestle. It was in answer to a email I sent them last week about Polly Waffles. They were most concerned that I had not been able to find any Polly Waffles and wanted to let me know they were still in production. My. my......I didn't expect an answer let alone a PHONE CALL! I was just annoyed because I couldn't find any of the dam things at any of our local Coles or Woolies. Nestle had checked their distribution list and wanted to assure me that they were still available. Looks like it pays to tell companies you're upset if it gets a response like this. UNFORTUNATELY............they didn't offer to send me some....bugger! Joodles......thanks for your post on lap tops V desk tops. In fact, thanks to everyone who has given me their ideas. You lot, more so than my family, understand my genealogy needs so I value your input tremendously. I'm leaning more & more towards replacing my old '98' with a lap top now. As far as your cold goes.......try echinacea and garlic. It works for us. And if that isn't any good then try a hot lemon drink with a nip of whiskey. It doesn't get rid of the cold.......you just don't care any more lol. You have made a very nice gesture to your ex about helping with ex-MIL's estate. He probably wont realise how much of a help you could have been untill he is in the middle of it all. For your daughters sakes......I hope everything goes smoothly. Vonny......your friends in Cairns seem to be very well prepared. I hope they are ok. Big hugs to them <<<<H>>>> Don't worry about Mia not being able to pronounce her name yet. When one of my nieces was little she had trouble saying 'grandfather' . She called him 'father'. She would stamp her foot and say 'I can't say GRANDfather!!!' lol. She has grown into quite an articulate woman ha ha. Hi Wilson........I didn't even know my son liked Polly Waffles! I'm sure he and his father could hunt them down where ever I hid them lol. Anna........I hope today went well. Did your daughter cope ok? Better be off now. Have to pick up Mark's Forrester from the mechanic after its service. He is off at 4:00am tomorrow for the big rally. Friendly wave and happy thoughts to all the rest of the Wonderful Wattlers. luv Trifley

Afternoon Wattles. Nice and warm in Melb, and aircon is on. Vonny. Are you being corrupted by this group??....lol Well shame, shame, shame...on all of you others.....( it wasnt me ) I see more people want to join the Wattlelotto.........well ya gotta let me know your Email addy's first....:>)) Mary. I think i have yours. Tassie. I'm open for any suggestions mate, as long as it agree's with everyone, as we are all part of the group. Lew. I have mate. There will be a letter coming out to all our Wattlelotto group..shortly, explaining a few minor details. The letter will be honest...and in no way intended to undermine peoples characters....but...... 'IF'.....or ..'WHEN'....we should win the big one, or similar, there has to be a code of conduct, and an agreement by all members, which i cannot explain on this forum. It only takes one ticket to hit the jackpot, and it could be ours......'ours' being the word. But as I'm sure you have all met me!!!......and know i am an upstanding member of our community, and trust me to hold onto a possible million dollars, and share equally among my fellow Wattles. Sorry,......not trying to sound negative, but money changes people's lives. Do you trust me!!....:>))......It's sooooo easy to say. From my point of view....i have just bought a ticket in Lotto and have agreed to share 1st Divy with our Wattlelotto group. Its time for a V.B....( thinks )...how many slabs could i buy with a million......:>))) Av a good un. Tony Oz.:>)) ps. Ozzies....If you want to join 'OUR' Lotto group you need to give me your Email Addy.

Good lunch time everyone, office is empty :) I am not sure about this wattle thread - since joining I have spent time gazing at a screen and laughing to myself, learnt to swear, learnt to gamble and I'm afraid to look in the NC at the moment! I think I have been led astray. Has remained cloudy here in the Capital today. Aren't the games adictive! Did you see the diving last night. Didn't our sync. divers do wonderfully. Especially the pair that came second. I want to watch the diving tonight but it is on Soooo late. Might be a bit earlier with the track and field events finished. Well bettter go and see if there is anything of interest on general and then get to work. ~~~~~~~~ Vonny PS Joodles I know what you mean, we don't usually eat at night anyway and I often don't have brekky till 10 - 11am. BUT the minute they say I have to fast I get hungry!!

Good Morning Wattlers We have a lovely sunny day here today. Got the Dr this afternoon for my flu jab and Tamika came home last night with forms from the Army Cadets which had to be filled in. One form is for a Dr to fill in so I rang this morning and got her in the same time as my appointment which is good. Lara I heard on the news that an elderly man died from a heart attack in one of the caravan parks affected by the Cyclone, they didnt mention the name of the park but I believe it was just below Innisfail. I couldnt remember where you said you go, if it is the same one, the park looked a mess. Mary bet you will be glad to get home and unwind from your holiday. Tony if we get many more wanting to join Wattlelotto we may be able to have 2 tickets each week, give us double chance of winning :-) That way if one person forgets we still have a chance with the ticket bought from the other person. Just a thought. Hello to all I havent mentioned, hope you are enjoying your day, with whatever you are doing. I am going to try and decipher a death record I had sent to me showing death details of 2 of my G-G Grandparents. Cheers Sue

Morning Wattlers, It has taken me ages to read through pages and pages of wattle thread. I have been working night shift this week. And i don't find this easy. All i do is work, sleep, worry about how much sleep i havn't had, winge and moan, lol. Oh and eat...... I can't forget that important part, always take lots of naughty food to work to keep me going in the early hours of the morning. It is amazing how much of a boost it gives the energy levels. Now am back on normal shifts must remember that i don't need that much energy boost he he. Trifley, I when my children were younger, my son could find special treat food no matter where i put it......until i took to hiding it in HIS wardrobe...never found it there lol. We still laugh about this. Am i too late to join the tatts lotto???????? Please.....Mmmmmm, if we won .........then i could tell the boss what to do with night shift :-))). Ok best get busy and do some of that nasty h**** w***, that also doesn't get priority when i do nights lol. Take care, Wilson

Vonny - that was a very interesting story of your friends misfortune in the cyclone. Hey - the THOUGHT of missing breakfast is actually far worse than actually missing it!!!!! I didnt eat till about 10.30am - I could have stretched it further if I wanted to! When I came on line today - I was reading from the beginning instead of the end in error, - and here was Laurie talking away - and Rebs - and I thought heavens what have I missed .................... then the penny dropped - it was way back in February !!! Im trying desperately to fight off a cold. Who is passing all these viruses around pmsl Jood

Just thought I would add this from my friends in Cairns re Cyclone Harry 'John spent all Sunday afternoon clearing the exterior of the big pot plants, hanging baskets, outdoor living furniture and barring up the big garage roller door. There are three long metal bars which can be bolted on the inside of the door and then we put mattresses against the door on the inside and backed the cars up against them as in the event of a direct hit garage doors can blow in. John prepared the battery operated radio, got out the hurricane lantern and kerosene lamp and prepared them for action and filled containers and the bath with water in preparation for the worst. By the time we went to bed at night we knew that the cyclone was going to cross the coast somewhere near Innisfail or Mission Beach and that we would be in the area of destructive winds. By 4 am the winds were whistling around bending the palms and tree branches. The electricity had gone out and it was extremely hot and humid, made worse by the fact that the whole house was closed up. We were very thankful for our gas cook top as this enabled us to boil water for a cuppa and all we could do was sit tight and listen to the ABC which was running a continuous report on cyclone warnings and talking to people all over the area as to what was happening. The cyclone crossed the coast just south of Innisfail at a place called Cowley Beach but with 250km winds Innisfail was devastated with every second house sustaining damage and the banana and cane crops being laid flat. It is bad enough to lose your roof but then the rain poured into the houses and you can imagine the result. By about 10am the cyclone had moved up to the tableland where it continued to wreak havoc as it sped on in a westerly direction. At this point everything became deadly still down here and the heat and humidity were oppressive. We were perspiring just sitting and not doing a thing. Around about 2pm the landline phone went out of action and we couldn't get a signal on the mobile either. Without electricity and the use of all the communication props - telephone, TV and Computer, fans etc. we felt that it was a very long day and evening, but we were thankful for our hurricane lantern and gas stove. We were not game to complain about our small inconvenience when we knew about people without homes just 70km away. Our neighbour has a generator and John helped her to get it set up to maintain her refrigeration. When her freezer was ok she lent the generator to our neighbour on the other side who also had a freezer that was gradually defrosting. We only have a small freezer on top of the fridge and it seemed to maintain what coolness it had for a long time, probably because we didn't open the door. Around about 5pm the telephone came on line again and just as I was preparing to get the evening meal the lights came on. So life returned to normal.'

Thanks Tassie - got the email. Re laptop-v-big pc. (Desktop) I have a Desktop, small lappy and bigger lappy. I hate typing on the small lappy unless I am away somewhere, when I think its the best thing since sliced bread. It is extremely light, and very compact. The bigger lappy I got at xmas. The screen is huge and its comfortable on the eye. You type a different way, by resting your wrists on the front panels. What I like about the big lappy (and small one) - is doing away with the huge hard drive on the floor. I'd have to say the desktop was the most comfortable, but its great to have backups. Jood
