Gwenda Report 27 Mar 2006 07:24

Afternoon Wattlers, Did a Joodles this morning - up at 5.40 am - let cats out, picked up paper and decided it was just too dark to be up at that hour so went back to bed - of course that put the day way behind when I did finally surface. Oh well tomorrow is another day - might have to stay up tho so I can get a few more things done before we head off on Friday for a family gathering. Did a couple loads of washing and have managed to remember to bring it inside this time - still can't believe I left it out last time - talk about a CRAFT moment, and I was so sure I had put everything away too - oh well Drive-ins - first movie I 'saw' was Bonnie & Clyde. There is still a drive-in going in Adelaide - if we take the kids (nearly 23 & 20) on holidays again maybe we should shout them a night out - then again don't want to let them know too much of what we got up to - lol My daughter thinks we were all boring back in those days - little does she know - pmsl When we lived in Alice the drive-in ran 3 different movie types each week - the latest blockbuster at the weekend, re-runs another couple of nights and R rated the other nights. Everyone took deck chairs, eskies and sat outside the car or if a ute turned it around and made themselves comfy. Then video arrived and killed the drive-in Tony - thank goodness I'm a bit younger - boys had long hair in my day and no Brylcreme. Brut 33 was all the rage - still love it - we used to stand behind guys breathing it in - gosh that sounds a bit desperate!!!! Welcome to our new WattleLotto player - hear she's a good sort!!! Devily & Trifley - sorry I don't care what car they drive - I go for the driver - however guess if I was to list my faves you'd find they mostly drive a HOLDEN - might just be coincidental - only car I've ever had the hots for was the Torana - yep a b****y HOLDEN again. Hubby had a GT-HO Phase 3 - will that get me back in the good books - pmsl That was before my time tho and I don't think we've had a Ford in all our 30 years together. Lara & Wilson - hope you're refreshed after your big day out yesterday. Good luck Anna when you buy our ticket this week - hope you have lots of good luck charms with you. Hi to everyone I haven't mentioned - hope you've all had a good day Catch y'all later Gwenda

Hi Trifley I will pass on condolences to my OH, you know when they loose a race it is like they have lost a best friend. Ooh now who's going over the top he he, but we have to make the most of it dont we trifley, cause you know what will happen come Bathurst .............. All I want to know is who will Murphy blame this year with no Ambrose racing, of course that is unless he comes over for the one race. Then it might be Fords year at Bathurst too lol. Cheers Sue

Afternoon All, Yes, another lovely day in Queensland. Bring on the rain, we didn't get any either when the rest of Queensland did last week. We need it to rain soon because we won't be getting any in winter. I like my tanks to be overflowing before May is out. You are making me very envious. I have reach the ripe old age of %* and I have never been to a drive-in. There aren't any in England. I wonder why, it may be something to do with the weather. We did have double seats though in the back row, they were quite nice. Gee, the memories are flooding back. Might go to the Drive-in at Yatala sometime. Will put it on my list of things to do. We started to watch the closing ceremony but weren't too impressed with the beginning so turned off. It doesn't sound like we missed too much. Getting too old for all the rock bands. We also thought the sound was bad. The games were great though, I thoroughly enjoyed watching, even sports I didn't know that I liked. never thought that I would get excited at lawn bowls. Anna, hope you get a lucky ticket. We want to buy a campervan, so that we can go to all the GR meets, but a bit short of funds. I have entered the comp on the TODAY show hoping to win one. Please don't tell Barb about it or I won't have a chance. LOL Trifley, I have seen your photo and i also have a few others now, I print them up and have them infront of me when I am reading your messages. Makes it a lot more personal. Well, I must go and look for this naughty Gt grandmother of Neville's. Four children, no father's. You wouldn't believe it, but her grandson was a major in the Salvation Army and very strict with the kids. Catch up later SuzyQ

Afternoon Wattlers Another day in glorious Queensland (suppose it's another day everywhere isn't it? lol) Positive thoughts going to Anna for luck with this weeks numbers. And we have a new player! I've heard she is a nice, quiet, well mannered, charming young woman. Or have I got it wrong ? heee heee :o) Tony..... have we drawn a line under the membership yet? My dad used to wear Old Spice and when I met Graeme he wore it too. I quickly nipped that in the bud. I wasn't going to sleep with someone who smelt like my dad lol. Suzy Q.....it seems that the more we all dig into our rellies past we all find a few funny things. For a time when all appeared straight laced and Victorian it seems some of them were 'at it' like rabbits lol. Our trees have a few odd dates, 'bastards', and unknown fathers. Compared with then........people's lives these days are very moral. Of course, this adds to the fun and excitement of doing the 'Tree'. If you want to see my photo you can go to GC photo page. I have a small album there headed 'Wine Trifle'. Gwenda.....we have a few maggies who come for the odd feed but have a family of butcher birds which are regulars. They sit on the chair backs on the patio and sing 'till we feed them. We only give them a small amount as we don't want them to become too dependant. You are right.........if you feed the maggies they wont swoop you in spring. They don't see you as a threat. Have a wonderful time with them. Devely......owwww, poor Skaife didn't finish yesterday. Neither did Murphy...oh dear, but FORD won............yaaayyyyy!!! I don't sound too over the top do I (says she strutting about with a big smile). I'm sure Holden will wipe us all over the road at some stage, maybe, perhaps. Tell your hubby to keep his hopes high. Aaaahhh, the Drive-In, brings back memories. Mark (son) tells me there is still one at Yattala (sp) just north of here. He goes with the car club some times and he says the place is packed. Graeme & I are going to go one night but I think we should take the ute. We could take cushions for the back and watch the movie in style. Good fun lol. Vonny...any luck tracking down the engine? Lots of positive thoughts to you and nasty ones to the mongrel thief. To all of you not feeling top notch...hugs and special thoughts. <<<<H>>>> To everyone else...a most regal wave from Pharaoh Trifley, Queen of the Nile :o)

Babs, Hope all goes well with your son. saw the closing and liked the lighting and effects. Thought the mirrors were a good touch - very clever. Missed the Indian segment - they were all waffling on and hubby came home from staking out the crime scene and I went to get him something to eat!!!!! and missed it :( No luck on the motor. He thought he might go and just wait near the carpark for a few hours and just see if anyone suspicious came around again. Thanks for all your comments and ideas though. Welcome to the latest wattlelotto member :) Glorious day here - Autumn at its finest. Vonny

Don't worry Babs, the airlines will find your son the next available flight. They won't leave him stranded in Dubai. Also, I have found that if you miss a connection, the airlines usually give you a meal voucher and if you have to stay overnight, they usually find and pay for accommodation. Hope this helps, Lewella (who was once stranded for 10 hours at Denver Airport!!!)

Anna Report 27 Mar 2006 01:08

Morning all Like Devly, I am all alone today - what on earth will I do with my time .....................ha, ha, ha!!! I didn't see all the closing ceremony as I had a few phone calls but I must admit what I did see I thought was a bit cringe worthy. I know they were celebrating Melbourne and that was the reason for having Dame Edna and all those other old Melbourne icons (like Johnny Farnham who has had more come backs than Dame Nellie Melba). Poor John is getting a bit stout around the middle and seems to have to strain for the top notes these days. In comparison to the segment that India put on, ours looked very ordinary I thought. And .......the duck came back for just a moment!! (Sorry Tony - no reflection on you Melbournians!!) Nice to have you back Mary - you just need to stop long enough to get your breath back now before getting into the hassle of selling the van etc etc. Seems that Wilson and Lara didn't disgrace the Wattlers at Bendigo. Nobody under the table....... well done ladies! Any news about the engine Vonny? There are some low types around. I sure hope they get caught. It is still as dry as chips here - we didn't get any rain at all when all of Queensland was supposed to be wet. I'm flat out trying to keep my plants alive. Lew - have you got tanks at your new house and if so, have you got any water in them or do you have to get water carted? You must be so excited with the big move only a week away. I remember the drive ins well - did a lot of my courting in the back seat at drive-ins! Did anyone forget to remove the speaker after the movie and drive off with the speaker and cord dangling from the window??? He he he!! Well - off to find dead people. Hope everyone has a good day. :>) Anna

Morning All. Another lovely day in Mudgee - and still no blasted rain! Hope everybody has a wonderful week. The first movie I saw at the drive ins was Sound of Music in 1966. Mum & Dad took us and we were all lined up in the back of the Holden station wagon like little sardines and dressed in our pjs and dressing gowns. It's a great memory! Didn't manage to see the closing ceremony. Too busy cleaning the Villa in preparation for moving out at the weekend, hooray!!!!! Terry's out on site this morning supervising the electricians, aircon guys, carpet layers and curtain blokes. The place is buzzing. Removalist booked for Saturday. Can't wait to open up all the boxes. It'l be like Christmas. Positive thoughts for all those feeling under the weather (((hugs))). A big welcome to the latest Wattlelotto member. I hear she's a bit of a card! Glad to have you on board. Sorry to hear about the robbery Vonny. There's some real ba**ards out there, that's for sure. *waves majestically to all* Miss Mudgee xxx

Morning Wattlers Gee it is soooo quiet here today, as I am by myself for the first day in 9 days, not that long, and wouldnt you know it, it is pouring with rain so I am stuck inside at the puta all day :-)))) Gee lifes hard pmsl. I had a meeting to go to yesterday and when I got home David had done all the Vacumming, cleaned the bathrooms and stripped the beds that his 3 slept in, oooh I love my man hee hee. Actually I think there might have been another motive behind him doing the work, as he follows Holden and, Im sorry to say they didnt fair too well at the weekend lol. Ford won both races and in the lead overall whoo hoo. Nice to see our latest wattlelotto member, hoping things are going along ok. Sending good vibes and positive thoughts to Anna this week hopping we can get a good divi, fingers crossed. Tony, gee what did I miss with these drive in things???? Actually I am not quiet that young, I did get to go to a couple of drive ins when I was a teenager just before they stopped having them :-(( But the boys had stopped using Bryll (spelling) cream as it was the fashion to have long hair then, and I dont think the 2 would go together too well lol. I did watch the closing ceremony last night, I thought the highlight was when they had a big globe with all the countries being upside down, putting Australia on the top part of the globe with Tassie, yes and we even got mentioned :-0, being on top of the world Yippee!!!! Well I might go and do a bit of work with my tree, Catch you all after. Cheers Sue

Morning all..Where are you all.. I slept in to 9am this morning so my body forgot we hadent changed the clocks. Going to be a warm one again so might get out and do some gardening.. Lara It was great to chat last night.. First one since I got home and I could not remember what to do..silly me..You certainly had a big day and hope you had a good sleep..I would like to get a laptop.. As you have such a inteligent one can you please tell me what the brand is please..I to need one more inteligent than me and can do more things by itself.. Rudee Me thinks you were quite a lad in your day...LOL cant say I ever got picked up by a chaps chewy...my mother only hated the stuff as we used to stick it under the dining room chair before we ate our meal.. She was always finding hard old chewy stuck fast to the wood ..We were naughty kids... Glad we have a new starter in the Wattlelotto. Any one with that reputation is most welcome and if they dont behave themselves will be sent to the naughty corner..and join the rest of us...LOL getting lonely in the naughty corner ,,, need more naughty peeps.with or without chewy... Joodles Watched the closing ceremony but was not to impressed.. It was more like a pop concert and I felt sorry for Michael Klim who seem to have been cut short..the songs may have been good but I could not make out what the words were in most and some of them were not very impressive.. I may be getting old but even Johnny F who I do like sang songs I didnt think much of.. He can do better..I like the Indian bits as that was spectacular.. Well better go and do some work so see ya later Love Maryxx

I remember the Old Spice and Brylcream and pointy toes etc. Yuk (today) And how could we girls run our hands through their greasy hair, I dont know! Good on ya (the latest Wattler player) - send us all good vibes. I watched the closing ceremony too - now I'm not being picky because Im from Sydney, but I was disappointed with the start of the ceremony.. I couldnt understand some of it, There were some good bits in it, and the Indian dancing at the end was spectactular. I was very embarrassed when they cut Michael Klim off during his speech, to have Dame Edna on - bad timing that was. But overall, the games were fantastic, and congratulations Melbourne. Jood

Evening. Just finished watching the closing ceremony of the Commonwealth games. Preety spectacular i thought, and the highlight for Barbs was her lost love, and dream machine Johnny Farmhand. We live not far from John ( next suburb ) and my nephew went to school with his son,and became good mates with him, and everytime he comes over to visit me ( my Nephew )......... Barb say's...Ooohhh did you see John lately...drool ,drool, saliva...............it's enough to make me SICK, SICK ,SICK......lol. A'hem.....(gains Composer) How is everyone....:>)) Joodle. Slick back greasy Brylcream hair was all the go,( remember )and the girls could run there hands through your hair. Unfortunatley....mine was so greasy, they slid off........ and banged there hand on the car window. But dashed with Old spice aftershave, and being an old 50s Rocker with pointy toed boots, a chewy, and a six pack ( now one large pack ) i did o'k. Mary. You are right, mate......lol Chewy is bad for your health, and i proved it that night at the Drive-inn. Well we have another starter in our 'Wattlelotto'...but she is a bit of a Rebel......:>)) Have nice day to-morrow everyone. Tony Oz...:>))
