*packing, packing, packing, puff, puff, puff* Morning All. Why can't you just leave everything behind when you move and just get new stuff??? Got so carried away with chucking stuff out that I nearly got rid of Hubby, lol. No, better keep him for a bit longer - need help unpacking!!!!! G'day to everybody and a big smile and hug to all. Thanks Anna, I've received the Lotto and the numbers look real promising. Better Win, so then I won't unpack. I'll just hire some slaves to do it, whilst I lounge in the pool and point and whistle. Ahhhh. Haven't read the nasty threads and don't intend to. Life is too short to become involved with that kind of stuff. Just happy to read this thread, make a guest appearance in the Naughty Corner and say g'day to Our Em every afternoon (morning for her). Of course, I also chat with Fair Anne who is about to start my scarf (hooray). Leave the sad threads for the sad people who contribute to them! Will try to drop in over the weekend, but moving computers so I mightn't have access, but I'll know if we win Lotto, lol, and I'll find you, don't you worry! Hooray for Miss Devil and her weight loss - good for you. You must be very proud. Vonny, my Aunt and cousins live in Bright, so maybe you can call in and visit them on your way to Yarrawonga. They're quite partial to fish! Loved the joke, Anna. I'll share that one with the office. Babs, are you at all surprised that your son hasn't been in touch. He's a bloke!!!! It just doesn't occur to them (oops, sorry, Tony - but you're more like one of the girls). Sorry, Jood, aint' gunna make it to Yarrawonga. Just too much happening with the new house, etc., etc. Welcome home Laurie. Hope you found lots of dead people, and I mean that in the nicest possible way. Thanks for the lxquick hint Heather. I'll give it a go and let you know how I fair. Oh SuzyQ, you are going to adore broadband! It's sooooo fast. Well, must away and get some work done. Waves to Queen Trifle, Gwenda, Leah and everybody. Hugs and Kisses. Lew Lew - Princess of the Packing Cases xxx

Morning Wattlers We have some rain - just enough to wet the ground but hopefully more. We have been on water restrictions so long now I don't think we will ever get back off them. Goulburn are talking now about carting it in and the local newspapers are making a lot of noise about the cost. Could somebody help me please? I am helping my cousin who I found recently in Canada and she has a photo with some writing that leads her to think the rellie might have gone to New Zealand. I have tried googling for genealogy in NZ, got through to Dept of internal affairs site but try as I might cannot get to the BMD part to search for reference nos etc. Got through to the probate section easily but with very little information I thought BMD would be the easiest way to go. Also, are there any sites in NZ that are similar to Genes in the way of messages?? I was referred to Ancestry and tried that but didn't seem to like what I was inputting. Any help would be appreciated - thanks. Welcome back Laurie - will look forward to hearing about your trip and also about the giraffes as well. Many thanks for the email Tony re lotto. Lara - love the emails - especially liked the one about the parrot on tv as well as the two piano players. Showed it to hubby and he tried very hard not to laugh, he didn't know whether to laugh or to look stern lol. Will show them to my daughter when she arrives next week. Have a good day everyone. Leah

Morning all, Beaten by Joodles - but I'm not going back to bed - haha It has just started spitting with rain here - finally - it's been promised for most of the week - of course how long it will last - that's another story. Trifley - I read that thread too - what a bunch of sad sacks (shouldn't take my cat's name in vain) - ever since I started reading this board they have had constant arguments from that side of the world - this thread is such a contrast and we should be congratulated - but then we are Aussies and we just know how to have FUN. Anna - thanks for buying the ticket - let's hope they are lucky nos. Hope you had all your lucky charms with you. Peta - welcome back - I was wondering what had happened. Good luck with your new contact. Hope things work out for your son. Devly - congrats on the weight loss - nice and steady is a good way to go. Guess Lew Lew is getting stuck into the packing - hope the move goes well on Saturday - how exciting. Babs - hope you hear from your son soon - my daughter holidayed in New York a couple of years back and I had to ring and ask her to let us know that she had arrived okay - they really are a worry. Laurie - welcome home - hope you've had a good flight and we look forward to your diary - always makes us feel like we are there. SuzyQ - you will love broadband - you'll be able to pop in and out all day now!!! Hi to Mike our canny lad - glad to know you are safe and well - we look forward to hearing all about your trip too. Brekky is waiting so I'll say cheerio for now. ~~~waving~~~ to everyone else I haven't mentioned. I'll pop back in later, but have to start packing for my weekend away and have some family stuff to print off for my family gathering so better get on with it. Gwenda

Goooooooooood morning Wokklers Guess who I got an email from?????? Our canny Michael - he's home - but only just. Give him a few days to catch up on sleep and he's promised to tell us all about his trip. He had no access to putas while he was away. When the cyclone hit, he was in Mackay. So at least we know he's alive and well. Wine Queen - no I didnt get to sample any food (mind you the boys behind the camera work very fast !) Its usually only people in the front seat. I went as part of a group of 15 - I dont think its that hard to get tickets, but be warned, the chairs are very very hard (my poor poor b*m) Only got one eye open this morning - think I might totter back to bed for a while. Love Jood

Hi again Wattlers I've just had a quick run through of another thread which is complaining that GR should have moderators on this site. There seems to be a lot of very unhappy peeps on the other side of the world who are not happy about certain nasty people who are members. I know this seems a little confused but it appears that our Rebs is not the only person to receive a bad PM. The thread is....'I'm surprised that GR....' by Jess Bow Bobbin Dog. Some VERY upset peeps have put posts on this thread. Is the Wattle Club one of the few threads which has nice people on it?? love Trifley

Hi Waffle Wattlers Thanks for the numbers Tony and thanks to Anna for buying them. They look lucky to me so fingers X X X, I need a new puta. Is Laurie almost back??? OMG...........it doesn't seem very long since she went away. Hope you have a safe final leg of your journey, Laurie. Hi Peta.....I haven't met you before.......(sends big wave ~~~~~~hello). Your son is dealing with a Gov't department so the going will be s l o o o w. Tell him to keep at it and he will wear them down in time. Devely........yaaayyyy 8.8kgs! Atta girl you've got it by the throat now the rest will be easier. You're not a football fan by any chance are you? You mentioned having a few trinkets of your favourite club. I'm sure your hubby will not mind a few more about the place lol :o) Hi SuzyQ.....Don't let broadband worry you........even I was able to set it up and I'm puta illiterate. You will be amazed at the difference it will make. It's the best invention since sliced bread. Hi Heather.....thanks for the tip about google 'Ixquick' I'm going to give it a try tomorrow. A big ~~~~~~~wave to you too another new cyber-friend. Vonny...Hope you catch some nice fish on your trip to Eden. I've heard its a lovely place for a relaxing holiday. Joodles......did you get to eat any of the food prepared on 'Ready, Steady, Cook'? How did you score tickets to the show? It must have been a long day all the way from the Mountains. I was doing some research this evening on GR and found (or didn't find) my 'Hot Matches' had disapeared. I noticed a thread about this earlier today but mine was alright then. Has anyone else noticed things 'missing'? It's getting late and I have to be up before the sparrows f **t in the morning so I will say a cheery goodnight to everyone and head off to bed. See y'all later. ~~~~~a most regal wave and a <<<<hug>>>> to those I've missed talking to, love Trifley, Queen of the Nile

Haven't been here for ages. Hope everyone is doing fine. What has been going on? It will take me ages to read through all the posts I have missed, so I'm asking for a quick update. I've had a minor success with finding a branch of my tree I have been stuck on. I am now in the process of trying to check the details I have been given. Going to take me a while. Feels good to take a step forward. Son out of work. He is now on the Centrelink roundabout again. They are messing him around quite a bit. Wish they would talk to each other and get their facts right. No matter how often we tell them something they mess it up. But thats another gripe. Cheers Peta

Hi Wattlers Lara yes the weight is still going down, I cant remember what I weighed last time I mentioned it but it will be 8 weeks on Monday from when I started the diet and to date I have lost 8.8 kg. We are on broadband and I would hate to go back to dial up now, we have a 256 download speed, but the best thing is you can be on the net all day and still get phonecalls. Cheers Sue

SuzieQ - Telstra or rather Bigpond, give you a disc to put in the computer and it helps you along with the installation - Im sure you can handle it - go for it. (your address will probably changed from bigpond.com to bigpond.net.au, but thats about all. Good luck Jood

Afternoon All, It will be good to have Laurie home and find out what the giraffe's are doing. It seems to have gone fast to me also. Don't remember who asked, but my provider is bigpond. I have to stay with them for broadband because I have a 12 month contract which has only just been renewed. If I switch provider I would have to pay Bigpond for the contract. Anyway, I am guessing that I will only be able to get Bigpond out here. It's the only mobile that you can get a signal with. Guess who won Ozlotto this week. Moi. the grand sum of $11.95. I suppose it's better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick. It may be a good omen for Saturday night. Can't stay long, not been home long and still have shopping to put away. Not my favourite job. Bye Love SuzyQ or maybe MaryQ.

Hello to all Wattlers, Just got time to pop in quickly and see what you're all up to ''waves'' - tee hee Anna, nice joke!! - I am a bit busy at work because one staff member is on holidays for a couple of weeks. Weather is gorgeous but it can rain now, back fence is fixed at last - hubby rapt yesterday he managed to get someone to get out the stumps at a moments notice, right at the same time as the council came around with some topsoil to fill the holes in the nature strip (which was a mess and a danger), the stump man had a mini bobcat thingy which packed down the soil right then and there, it would have taken hubby ages to shovel it all by himself. I was given a tip last week which I will pass on, because using it I have found some tidbits I wouldn't have otherwise come across. Instead of using Google to search, try using 'Ixquick'. I put the two last names of my grandparents and the place they lived, and came up with a few useful hits - a cemetary listing (UK) and two family trees, one with lots of useful dates and one with some wrong info for my Grandpa! Which I can correct because there was an email addy. You can find Ixquick by googling it !! I gather it is a search engine that looks at a lot of other search engines including google, but picks up some things that google may miss. It's all so very clever..... SusyQ you won’t know yourself with broadband, such fun, online friends are just the same as real people (after all they are real people lol) I think the internet is an absolutely fabulous boon for anybody especially those restricted geographically, by illness, or lack of money to travel. You can chat to family and friends you already have, as well as meet all other kinds of people all over the world really. And I don’t even use msn (if I did I’d never get any sleep), but I visit a couple of chat groups I like and read others, and look in here every few days, I’d really miss it if I couldn’t now I’ve got to know who peeps are. Imagine missing out on all the footy tips that are going to be on soon – (go Bombers) come on Tony, footy tips have to be in on Thursday before the first game starts!!! Safe journey home to Laurie, happy moving Lew, hi Joodles, Gwenda, Trifley. Lara, Mary, Vonny , Old Uncle Tom Cobbly and All, Eeeks gotta go, see ya later all!!!! Heather in Albury

Afternoon Wattlers Anna loved the joke. still sitting on chair laughing lol. Fingers crossed for this weekend. Babs welcome to the thread, do pop in more. Its always nice to see a new face. Vonny yes I think we have all done the same and made a tpyo or added a wrong name, proves we are only human. Well I thinks I may be in the bad books with OH when he gets home from work. I got a phone call earlier from the President .......... of the Hawks Cheersquad, hee hee had you thinking for a minute. Well he needs a place to store all the cheersquad stuff, flags, banners, pom poms etc so they dont have to carry them over and back from Vic all the time. We I just had to say yes I would look after them lol. So now poor David not only has to put up with a wall in the lounge covered in Hawks photos, and a bedroom dressing table draped with my gernseys, scalves and hats, a couple of items in the kitchen and a letterbox painted in hawk colours and emblems, now he has to put up with the cheersquad stuff, and he dont even go for Hawthorn pmsl!!!!! But he loves me :-))))) I went for my walk this morning and stopped at the hairdressers to book an appointment to have my hair done ready for our trip to Vic at Easter, and the hairdresser said she could do it straight away so after a hair cut and then a dive to the shop to get some hair dye, cause after she cut it, you could see more grey than colour lol, I came home and put the dye in straight away, so now I look and feel lots better, well I feel lots better, not sure about the looks pmsl. Catch you all later. Cheers Sue

Awww Vonny - dont think that. It happens to me all the time, I can type something up - read it through several times, and discover hours later that I have done something wrong. I think its because we women multi-task !!!!! I think Laurie will be busy for a few weeks when she gets back, but she'll be down at Yarrawonga, so you can all get together then and decide on the date (only if its ok by moi hahaha) But honest, I have nothing scheduled for June, - bad enough that I have to miss Yarra. :-(( Hi Babs, welcome to Wattlers. Lew Lew - I envy you and I dont - not the packing side of it :-((( Are you going to Yarrawonga? Jood

Morning Wattlers Well - the all important numbers for Saturday are in my possession - will notify later. Welcome back Laurie - glad to hear you had a great trip but we missed you on the boards. First thing you have to do when you get back is to let us know when you will be in Qld so we can arrange the Qld meet! Babs - glad your son has arrived safely - doesn't matter how old they get, you still worry about them dreadfully. Lew - have fun with the moving. A very stressful time so make sure you take time out to visit the naughty corner and relax with a few vinos and a masssage!! Vonny - and for all of us who have C.R.A.F.T. moments!! JOKE!! An elderly couple have dinner at another couple's house and, after dining, the wives leave the table and go into the kitchen. The two men chat and the guest says: 'Last night we went out to a new restaurant and it was really great. I would recommend it hightly.' The host asks 'What's its name?' 'Aaaaaahh, what's the name of that red flower that you give to someone you love?' His friend replies, 'A carnation?' 'No, no - the other one,' the man says. His friend offers another suggestion 'A poppy?' 'Nahhh!' growls the man, 'You know - the one that is red and has thorns.' His friend replies 'A rose' 'Yes, that's it!' the first man says. He turns towards the kitchen and yells 'Rose, what's the name of that restaurant we went to last night?' Catch you all later Anna :>)
