Arvo Wattlers.....and those lovely other people who wish they were. Rebs.........yaaayyyy! Back again! <<<<H>>>> and ~~~~~~waves from the Royal barge. Now we can get down to some serious talk about the Brissie meet in June. I'm fine for the 10th. Just let me know where & when. I think I'll still come up the night before so's I'm rested for the big day. Lemmon Nelly...Hi & welcome to the 'Club' Where abouts in Scotland are you? I hear the weather has been a little unpleasent lately. Don't worry...if you stick with this thread you'll have sunshine all the time:o) Hi Edith...welcome to you too. You also will enjoy the sunshine of our wacky lot. I don't think we've had a Canadian on here before, great to see you :o) Laurie........Had a good sleep? Glad to have you back. Hope Ray's chest inf. clears up soon. Loved your story about your gtgtgrandfather's records. The more info you find the more of a real person they become. Not just a name attached to a branch. I love the social history which goes with this tree climbing business. Now Anna....what is it with men and the size of things? lol. Mark (son) says a TV is only good if it's big..........men! Lets hope we win enough for your hubby to get his TV and something for you too :o) Aaaaggghhh........exercise class! OMG Joodles what happened to you? Are you going to turn up at Brissie looking all trim, taut & terrific? That's it........I'll have to go on a diet....bugger! Hi Peta.....a new printer these days IS often cheaper than getting an old one repaired. But then most new printers (even inexpensive ones) do lots more than the old ones. Have fun with it. What sort was it? Ow, poor Julie Cat.....sorry you feel worse. <<<<H>>>> and healing thoughts on their way to you. Get lots of rest and plenty of fluids. We have the first real autumn day here in Qld today. A good amount of rain and it is even a little cool. Poor Lew Lew....no rain for ages and then just when you are moving the skies open up. At least it is adding to your tanks, so not everything is bad. I DO hope your move goes well.........you don't want mud tracked through your nice new house. Fingers X X X for a fine day tomorrow. Have a great day my cyber-friends and I'll see you all later. <<<<HUGS>>>> and a ~~~~~~wave from me on the royal barge Trifley Queen of the Nile

Hi everyone, It's nice to have you back Rebs and you too Laurie. Hope you are both rested up and raring to go. Wilson, I also have Legacy and I like it. I just download new bits from the site and I haven't had any trouble. Lara, Is it Cilla that you are trying to think of from mackay area? She pops in from time to time, but i haven't seen her for a while. Hope she is okay. Trifley, Doesn't ironing a glass of wine go together. A friend of mine needed a bottle to get through hers. Devily, Did I hear right, snow forecast inTassie today. We have had some lovely rain today with thunder and lightning, but it seems to be clearing up now. It is also very cold. I may have to put my track pants on. A light aircraft has crashed today, at McGregor, just south of Brisbane. Neville has had to go up there today, luckily not too near. Those light aircraft really frighten me. One of our neighbours has put in a runway and planes are landing and taking off all weekend, and they fly right over our house. It is illegal what they are doing, but even though the council keep issuing them with fines they still do it. We are guessing that the fines must be very low or the man must be very rich. It is a worry because if one does crash the insurance won't be valid. Why do some people think that the laws don't apply to them/ Rebs, the 10th of June is fine by me, but I will fall in with what suits every one else. We don't make long term plans any more. Just take every day as it comes. Well, catch up later Love SuzyQ

Afternoon Wattlers, Welcome back Mary, & Laurie from their travels, and especially to Rebs - back from the wilderness of exile. Sorry haven't been on here since last Saturday - (maybe this week we will be lucky with our lotto. ) Have been flat chat at work. And I have kept looking at the clock and it seems be whizzing around the hours far too fast. Had a deadline on a quilt, so have been up until 1.00am - 4 nights in a row. I get cranky with less than 6 hours sleep, its not a good time of the month, we are lagging behind building a wall at the cottage and the roofer is getting antsy, and have a visitor arriving Monday to talk family history ( 2nd cousin from Brisbane - who I found on GR) plus all the other associated garbage that goes with juggling house, garden, family upsets and work (notice I put work last!). So I haven't wanted to inflict myself on anyone - let alone you nice lot. Hopefully will be in a better mood tomorrow - Ken certainly hopes so. lol. Good luck with the move Ms Mudgee - how many weeks has it been dry? and mother nature decides to turn this weekend. congrats to Tony and Barb on the pending arrival. (wistful sigh - think I'm destined to 'borrow or adopt' someone else's grandchild) Will try to drop in tomorrow, if I don't get back -have a great weekend - waves and smile and keep everything crossed for the right numbers on Saturday night Jude 3

Hi again. Lem – still nice to meet you again tho, and Edith, popping in from Canada thread, (I pop into your thread now and again. I’ll certainly look up that shopping center and drool over it ! Laurie, yes Cheri & I did indeed visit St Martin in the fields church when we were there in 98. I take it you found nothing on our infamous Goring family – and only succeeded with Parks & Goodfellow??? Good luck to you anyway. One of these days we will get some info on the Goring family that has never been found before. At the moment, all our ancestor did was get sued in court for something (in the 1800’s) – bless him ! Oh, we are going on the QE 2 now – to the UK and Canada???? Goodie goodie *claps hands* Jood

Good Afternoon ALL Wattlers. Firstly and foremost, as its the most important. Welcome back Rebs, I know you just couldnt stay away and miss a chance of stirring those Pie Supporters could you Hee Hee. Laurie nice to also see you back on the thread, we did miss your report of the Bay and giraffes while you was away. Glad to see your trip had some nice finds, now the works starts with it putting it all together. Julie hope you are feeling better, its no fun being sick and having no energy to do anything. Well its gotta be Football season it is cold and drizzling today, and we are expecting a frost for Sunday. Hopefully those Dockers will be like brass monkeys and not be able to play well over here pmsl. Ohhh I do hope there are no Freo supporters on here :-0 I think getting the QE2 is a great idea, I dont care where we go and where we stop for shopping etc, I just love ships and the wide blue oceans, can sit on the deck and look out at the water for hours. When I was young and still at home, we made a few trips on the ships between Devonport and Melbourne and if Mum and Dad didnt know where I was, they only had to go and look on the decks and they would find me looking out at the water. Well a big hello to all I havent mentioned, fingers crossed for tomorrow night, catch you all later. Cheers Sue

Hiya Lemon. Were you the one who was going to get lost at the Train Station? Welcome to the Wattle thread. At least you'll be colour co-ordinated!!! Great to hear from you, Laurie. Sounds like you had the best time. Good for you. Oh, it is Gwabegar (silent G) and that train line still operates hauling coal. Well, of course, it has started to rain out here!!!! We're moving and there's mud everywhere. Murphy's bloody law (damn the Irish, lol). Lew Lew, Miss Mudgee xxx

I join the chorus of welcome back Rebs, and girl, you only worry about the things and people that are important . . . . so in future dont give garbage a place in doesn't deserve! (Really sorry you have been through the mill with it all whatever happened) I will make every effort to be in Qld on 10th June for the meet, should be fun. Son, Glen has settlement on his house on 6th April, has brought at Brighton (Qld) a block off the beach, he has some jobs he wants to get done before he moves in - Ray and I will be going to NZ mid May for a week and I propose to go north after that so should work in well. Well the washing machine hates me - it got used to the idle life while I was away, and I've given it a work out today - and despite the fact that after a month off I now have to get back into the dreaded chores (a month off cooking and cleaning has been bliss) I am glad to be back home . . . We did have our turns at cooking while staying with Debs, she has excellent Chinese and Indian take aways just up the road ! The view of Botany Bay from my balcony takes some beating, there are five idle giraffes this morning and the flights have been coming and going as have the ships. Although it is a dull grey day, its is still busy on the Bay. I still have to venture out to the shops to fill the larder, hubby only got the essentials in between naps yesterday (Oh and he didn't forget the flowers - after all its essential to spoil the one who provides the insanity) Poor Ray came back with chest infection, sent him off to Dr yesterday for drugs so should be fine soon, gone to office anyway - get more sympathy there he reacons ! I couldn't understand how much more weight we had in the bags coming home, as I did shop - but not that much - untill I piled up the paper work we had collected . . . no wonder Ray was telling everyone he had brought a new printer and donated it to the archives !!! That was his job, to get everything I found copied, along with hard copies he also was able to photograph them all for me. All up we had 2 days at Kew, 1 day at Canterbury, 1 day at Dover and 1 day at Maidstone records offices. Along with the many addresses off census, and churches where important family events took place. Joodles, did you go into St Martains on the Field church when you were in London, its right at Trafalgar Square and has a cafe in the crypt - fascinating place! NOW, comes the hard part - putting it all together . . . I have to say, there was nothing like reading through the original ships logs from the early 1800's, the writting for the most part was done with the most beautiful script - these were mostly sailing ships, and my gtgtgramps was the captain of the mast on several of them. Finding him wasn't easy, as he was in the Royal Navy before they had continuous service numbers - one rejoined the service with every new ship they signed on to. Once I had him on one ship, I could go back to the one before as it listed previous ship. Then I struck it lucky when I found a log the captain had written a physical description of all the crew (and I very nearly didn't read that last book as I thought I was expecting too much of Ray on our last day - but he insisted), and it also listed the number to find his pension application ! Jackpot! More info about the family. Good luck Lew with the move, sounds like you have built Mudgee castle - fitting for the princess - or Miss Mudgee . . . whenever I hear the name Mudgee I remember way back after the news on the ABC they used to give the railway movements and it was always 'The Mudgee, Binnaway, Wobbigah (sp) Mail is running on time' One of those strange little things that stay in the memory bank! Tony, I dont think I got your email, haven't come across it yet and I did have my server spit the dummy at me about using up my mail space. I deleted a lot but think they shut me out for a few days there somewhere! Well, I have had my break so best get back to work Just got the pile of mail from the post office and now have to pay some bills !! Yuk cheers for now - be back later for another break and a few more pages of reading and catching up with you all luv Laurie

Looking forward to hearing all about Michael's doings in Qld - I think he must have got a suntan as he still has some white bits he tells me. (Hope its not white feet, liks from wearing sox with sandals - we did warn him!) I went to an exercise class today (groan) Had to start somewhere. I hated it, I always hate exercise, but I will go back, I promise. I vote we detour to Edmonton, Canada after we've been to the Old Dart on our Lotto winning tour.
