Hope it goes through withour any trouble and he can settle down again..He can always paint the walls to brighten it up... Arvo Wattlers I've just seen the 2's & 3's thread........well done Vonny & Anna <<<clap>>>. I'm learning at least one new word a day because of you two. My god Vonny........where on earth do you get some of those words??? I have trouble pronouncing some of them, let alone know what they mean!!! Sissoo???? had to look that one up......didn't know garden books were allowed. You'll have to look out now...I have a beauty Mark got me for my birthday 2 years ago. Vonny...........window shopping of any sort is good but the antique type is best of all. Have a great time. You might have to wear dark glasses in case the photographers find you lol. Anna...the family book sounds great. Where do you get something like that published? Glad to hear your son has found a house. If the walls are dark then perhaps he could pick up a couple of cheap mirrors to hang up and reflect the light. Also some light pastel coloured prints from say..........Crazy Clarks will also add a little brightness to the place. Lew Lew......I know the RSPCA pawphans are good but not the same as a real live cat. Are you going to get another one? I'm still wandering around in shorts and sleeveless tops and the windows are all open so I guess I have better weather than some of you in the colder climbs. I'm sending warm thoughts to you all. Has anyone seen Reb's? She hasn't been around for a few days and I was wondering if she was ok. Happy ~~~~~waves and big <<<hugs>>> from me on the royal barge to all of you. love Trifley Queen of the Nile

Afternoon Wattlers. Lovely day in Melb. Sun shinning, and resonable warm outside, so Sue ( Tassie ) should be pleased. Hope everyone had a great Easter, and family day or whatever you did. Vonny. The balooning sounds great, and what a sight it must have been to be able to watch and follow them. They have early morning Balloon rides over Melb. ( city ) most mornings, and normally can see them at sunrise drifting over Melb. as i venture onto the Freeway heading into the City. Joodle. Glad i was able to make your friend in Q.L.D happy mate with the W.A link. Talking about Spa's, ( Jacuzzi )we have 2. One outdoors and one indoors. Outside is a 8 seater and my job to-day is to clean it, and change the filter......lol Great for relaxing tired muscle's, or just sitting around in them sipping on Pina Colada's or whatever...:>)) We will be needing a new heater for our's soon ,so more expense coming up...:>(( Still finding more relo's in Oz ( S.A ) on my Grandmothers line, and made contact with decendants from her Uncle yesterday. Have a nice day whatever your doing. Tony Oz...:>))

Hi Anna, glad to hear your son might have finally found some accommodation. Unfortunately, there's not a lot of places that will take pets. My 2 pawphans are toys sold by the RSPCA. They represent my cat Chester and my friend's cat Harry who also recently died. Vonny, sounds like the balloons looked beautiful. Terry and I went ballooning once in the Hunter Valley and we crash landed! Quite spectacular. Hit a tree about 60 feet off the ground, plummetted to the ground and then dragged along the ground for another 100 metres. Luckily no one was hurt. All the cars had stopped to watch and we thought they were about to hold up score cards, you know, 9.5 for artistic content, 8 for execution, LOL. It certainly was memorable. The following year, we went dog sledding in the White River National Park in Aspen and we also crashed! I broke my sternum and that hurt a lot. It was then I started to wonder whether Hubby was trying to knock me off, pmsl. Anyway, I've learnt my lesson and don't do anything remotely dangerous with him, just in case! More friends coming over for dinner tonight, so think we'll have a barbie. Lew Lew xxx

Good morning Wattlers all What a quiet morning on the Wattler's thread - is everyone sleeping off Easter? Too much chocolate and too many hot cross buns!! Poor Lara - hope you've found the Lindt eggs by now!! Congratulations Jood - hope mother and beautiful grandson Lucas are doing well. Enjoy the cuddles. Devly - you can't be home yet or we'd have heard you crowing by now!! Hope the trip went well and that the weather eventually improved for you. Mary - there were about 300 people at the reunion - from Victoria, Northern territory, NSW and lots from Queensland of course. They were allowed to camp in the school grounds. I've really enjoyed browsing through the family history book they produced - so much information and I'm astounded at the people I have family connections with that I wasn't aware of before. One of my great aunts had 15 children and others all had big families too so there are lots of descendants. Laurie - where are you - you came back for 2 seconds then disappeared again! Suzy Q - your drive into the country sounded delightful - I love getting away from the crowds. Yesterday we drove out of town to a coffee shop away from the Easter crowds at our local Gospel Music Festival which attracts 1000's of people and it was so peaceful with views out over the countryside. Funny thing was, they had a big advertisement there looking for 'Grumpy Old Men'. I have volunteered Chris as they are trying to start up a club in a huge shed they have there for retirees interested in wood work and will made toys, furntiture etc to sell. One of the reasons they give for starting the club is: 'Provide a venue to get retired men away from the house so women can play bridge or go shopping. To quote from the book 'Bloke's Sheds' a woman said she married her husband for better or worse but not for lunch every day.' Don't you love it - I'm going to give him a lot of encouragement to join!! Lew - do you have a new pawphan - you didn't make that clear? You'll have to stay out of the spa or you'll look like a prune when you send us the photos! Suzy Q - son has found a house which would be OK and has put in an application for it but nothing doing over Easter so hopefully they will find out tomorrow if they can get it. If so, we will be moving them this week as the rental house is available immediately. It's not too bad - nice backyard with room for grandson and dog and cat, 3 bedrooms, new kitchen, lock up garage which has internal access to the house. The colours inside are very dark purple, very dark navy blue, very dark plum which makes it a bit gloomy but hey - it's in quite good condition inside. Outside is fairly ordinary though. There's just nothing around under $200 a week. I guess that must sound like a joke to you people living in the big smoke - I'm sure rentals would be much higher there, but son's budget doesn't stretch to more than that. Well - think I'll go and do a little baking - cake tins are empty after the long weekend. Rebs - we'll be sending out a search party - better check in and let us know you are OK. Catch you all later. Anna Waves to Vonny and Jood who snuck in while I was typing!

Jood, It is a special balloon festival at the moment and goes till next Sunday so if you can get the rest of the group to agree it is great watching them launch but wear warm clothes, hats, scarfs and gloves (I forgot my gloves this morning!!) You can actually go to the launching site and watch them fill or just position yourself around the lake and watch them float. Depends on the weather of course and how much wind as to which way they float - for the last few days they have been travelling west down the lake. :) Vonny

Judy Report 17 Apr 2006 01:44

Hi all - Vonny - how often do the balloons go up? Or is there a balloon festival there at the moment? How lucky you are to have a boat and be able to chase the balloons down the river. I'll look out for you on the news tonight !!! I take it you live close to Lake Burley Griffin? For me ...... I have been rather industrious this morning, did washing and hung it out, did a wee bit of weeding ( you know how you see one weed and another, and before long you are right into it).........well my back didnt let me work too long ............. into the kitchen, made vege soup, my back is killing me by now, so I have retired to the computer room for a short break. After a while, I'll be ok. A glorious day here in the mountains again, not a cloud in the sky. Hope you all had a wonderful weekend. I dont think Ive seen or spoken to anyone the whole time except when I visited the hospital twice. Ahhh woe is me. I'm used to it tho. Another busy week coming up and then the weekend away. Back later Jood

Morning all, Been outside in the fresh air and sunshine. it's VERY fresh!!!! :) Up at 5.30, launched the boat before 6.30. off into the sunrise as the mist curled over the water. lots of photo opportunities. the balloons launched around 7am. magic moment - they drifted over the lake just above us. Next thing we know all these tiny sparkles came from the baskets - they were photographing US!!!! pppppppp. Wish I'd known, I was dressed up to the nines - not!! (old clothes, beanie, army greatcoat.) Helicopter flew over, really low - THEY were photographing us too(and the balloons.) Looked over to the wharf - lots of peeps looking at the balloons and.....................photographing us!!!! LOL Must have looked all photogenic with old wooden boat, mist over the water and sunrise............................. next time I'll dress the part! Picked up daughter and Son-I-L from the wharf and chased the balloons down the lake. Lots of lovely photos, will get SIL to give me some and I'll try to post on Surnames site perhaps. Best balloon was an enormous Scottish bagpiper in a kilt. There were also two bees, a windmill, a house and many colourful conventional balloons. Lovely morning and we were home by 9.30. georgeous day. We are going Antique store window shopping in Yass this arvo - has one of the best Antique shops I've ever seen. have a great day, Vonny

Happy Easter Monday all. Hope nobody has a sore tummy from too much chocolate! Gorgeous day here in Mudgee, although a bit chilly. Should warm up as the day progresses. Well, the first spa was wonderful and I stayed in way too long. 'Life is like a hot bath, the longer you stay, the wrinklier you get!' Yes Mary, Mudgee Meet next February. Date will be confirmed when Hubby tells me when he is going skiing. Our sparky is a genius, but so is Cable Guy. There is apparently several kilometres of cable through this place. Filled the fish pond with water last night and now have to get some pebbles and plants in and settled before I had fish. Spending the day outside in the fresh air and sunshine. Love to you all Lew Lew xxx

Mary - have you sold your car already? Here you are talking about the new one, and I didnt even know the 4WD had gone, or did you trade it in (oh silly me, of course you did lol) Mary - it was decidedly chilly this morning in the Blue Mountains ....... something like 6 deg..................... buggar the minus deg in Canberra (sorry Gwenda)- I found 6 deg was more than cold enough. Yes - ............I am off to Canberra just for the two days with the travel group. We are going to the Film Archives, Black Mountain, and Cockington Green, that I know of...... I'm to ring JA. .. Mary, dont know if I will actually see her, or just say hello. She is on duty at the Old Parliament House. I used to live at Royal Millitary College, Duntroon 1967-1970 so I do know the Mountain, but not the other places. I've passed through there at times since then, and got horribly lost - ........... all those ****** roundabouts!!!! I wondered about Lew too, whether she'd frizzled to a frazzle, but she upped and had her say on here, I just hoped she had a dressing gown on (sorry Lew) I promise I wont write again tonight Oh - and yes, I did have a cuddle with Lucas -............. he is soooo gorgeous. I have some pics too - 2 days old. Jood

Happy Easter Wattlers, Everyone sounds to be very busy. I am glad that I am not the only one to have a senior moment on Friday. All day I thought that it was Saturday. Maybe I was the one to confuse you all. We had a lovely day yesterday. We decided to go out and risk the traffic, but instead of the coast we went inland to Rosevale, well we intended to go to Rosewood but took a wrong turn. We took bread and cheese, a typical Ploughman's lunch and had it on a hill with wonderful 360 views. There was no one else there, the dogs had a great time. We hardly saw any traffic all day, so in future if we go out in the holidays it will be the country side. Lew Lew, your friend bringing 2 pawphans, does that mean that you now have a new member of the family? I also have been almost caught with that error message thing and it came up to download even though I had cancelled it. A bit cooler today in Sth East Qld. It rain overnight, not much, and this afternoon a wind had blow up and cooled things down. Today is the first time I can remember in ages that I have had to close the windows in the computer room ( glorified spare bedroom.) Anna, has your son had any luck yet finding a house? You are lucky having a family who are also interested in your family history. I keep asking my cousins for information but it is not forthcoming. I have recently made contact with someone who may have the same rellie, one who has put up a brick wall, so I am now going to look through my records to see if I can sort something out. Bye for now, hope no one has choccie hang overs. SuzyQ
