Good Morning All, Have just dropped DD14 off at start of street march in winter school uniform, looking tall and gorgeous, so smart. Looks like a big crowd this year, they will come by the end of my street in 45 mins or so, I'll send her Dad down to watch while I 'mind the store' as I watched last year. When we get home today I plan to see the end of the Melbourne march, sometimes I catch my Dad's lot passing, this year he's got a gammy knee so he'll be looking for a jeep to ride in ( he's 88 and has always marched, I have big Anzac Day memories from childhood). Then the footy will be on, magic entertainment, might whip up a bunch of Anzac biccies too..... it's a great day..... Heather |

Good morning to you Anna. And a Happy ANZAC Day to all. Welcome to the thread Ella. Love Perth, fantastic city. Foster Brother lives there and we visit every couple of years. Sorry to hear you don't have any Scottish blood. Damn, their records are highly organised. Makes for really easy researching. Okay Tony, I'll call it a truce. We're both Clan Ogilvy and that's important! But please, stop wearing those fishnets! That's something you definitely got from your father's side, lol. The only UK country I don't have in my tree is Wales and you'd reckon with a name like 'Lewella' they'd show up somewhere! Anyway, hope everybody has a wonderful day. Lew Lew xxx |

Hi Ella, Glad you dropped in - I think it was me who wrote to you not Lara - but 'whats in a name . . ' eh There are so many Judys on here we had to number them so we wouldn't get confused. You lucky thing if your researching Scotland . . . wish everyone kept their records like Scotlandspeople! The natives have been busy this evening I see - was going to say stop picking on Tony Lew, but think he can stick up for himself - and dish it out. Started getting gear ready to take with me to Yarrawonga tonight, getting all excited . . . the lovely Ray is taking Friday off so we will be down there Friday night now - staying up the road from Lara's - same place I believe as you Tony - so see you there! Was a naughty girl and ordered some books online today - anyone else purchased through pioneerbooks*com*au/lists/0074*html ?? lots of good stuff there plus I got the info of some I wouldn't mind reading and will see if local library can get them in for me. Anyway - not many hours till dawn service so best get some sleep. night all cheers luv Laurie |

Welcome Ella Rose You've caught us mucking up!! But I'm glad you were able to reinforce the facts about the midges. Dreadful creatures. Did you ever see a farkle on the highlands? Strange little creatures. You only see them in Scotland. Keep popping in - we do talk sense sometimes! :>) Anna |

Hi Guys Laura invited me along to this board. So I would like to say hello to all. I have been reading your comments on Scotland and the Midges. I lived in Scotland from the age of approx 2 and a half, untill I migrated to Oz in 1990. I was born in Islington, London. I remember that we travelled up to Scotland and around Scotland in Caravans until my parents found the place they wanted to live. ( Tighnabruiach in Argyll ) And I remember the bloody Midges !!!!!!! I think that is probably why I remember travelling at such a young age. We used to get up in the morning and the caravan door would be opened and the Midges would pour in. My parents used to light a fire and keep it as smoky as possible to drive the Midges away. But oh the pain and torment was to much for a little one to bear. Cold wet mornings and Midges are the downside. But I don't ever remember them in the countryside where we finnaly settled. Only at times when we went traveling to Lock lomand and other places for holidays. Scotland is truly a beautiful place. Although I hated the city's, especially Glasgow!!!!! Ella |
