Mornin' all, I rolled over to listen to the 6 am news and heard about the miners – good news at last ! Big lump in throat just now thinking about the funeral for Larry this afternoon, it will be such an emotional affair, just hope the media have some respect. So sorry about Lew's and Wilson’s respective cats, ours is only 8 but we wouldn’t be without her so I hope she stays away from nasty cars. Not quite so cold here today, but I’ve “put me spencer on” lol. Catch you all later, Heather

((((hugs)))) for you Wilson on the loss of your cat. Having just lost my 18 yo one in the same way, I know exactly how you are feeling. It's like losing a family member. I suppose your cat is up there with my Chester discussing us and complaining to each other about our genealogy obsessions cutting into their lap time, lol. Lew lew xxx

Morning Wattlers, Great news about the miners :-))), must be a huge relief to their families and the whole community. But also a sad day, and one of very mixed emotions for the family of the man who died. Day off the tractor today, now it is too wet, lol, i have to go and do paid labour this afternoon. I often tell OH that i work off farm to support the b****y farm and call it his very expensive hobby. 80 acres in and 580 to go, oh well he loves it, and i actually enjoy it most of the time myself. I had a sad day yesterday, our cat of 16 years was hit by a car out the front of our house. the car that hit him didn't even stop, and a lady in the car following stopped and moved him off the road. Seems very inhumane to not even stop when they had to have known that they had hit something. OK i am off to check the soup and get ready for work. Take care all Wilson

Such wonderful news to wake up to! Thinking about them and their families as they attend the funeral today, such a difficult time for everyone I think. The pictures seem to be working OK today - I can see all of them :) Nice to see you SusyQ :) GUESS WHAT! Hubby did surprise me! When I got home yesterday there was my birthday/mother's day present in the entrance - an antique hall stand. Looks lovely - I admired it on Saturday but I never thought he would make a special trip back just to get it :) very frosty and cold here this morning but should be a sunny day. Catch you later. remembering little Sophie, ~~~~~~~ Vonny

Brilliant news guys I think it is wonderful that they are out in time and well enough to attend Larry's funeral - it would have been so distressing for them to have missed it. Positive thoughts for all involved - the 2 guys, their families and the rescuers. A wonderful outcome. Anna

Lew I agree totally now that things have worked out here. We can now focus all our attention and prayers and positive thoughts to Sophie and hopefully it will be just as good a result. Cheers Sue

What absolutely fantastic news about our Tassie Miners. What amazingly brave guys they've been. Try to image being entombed for that long, not really knowing if you are going to actually make it out! Sends shivers down my spine. Now let's all concentrate our positive thoughts on that little princess Sophie. Light frost in Mudgee this morning. It has burnt off pretty quickly, although the dog's water bowl is still frozen, bbrrrrr. What time do you and Jood think you'll be in Mudgee tomorrow, Laurie. Perhaps we had better make it a luncheon appointment, rather than just coffee (more time for chatting, lol). Hope everybody has a fantastic day. Lew Lew xxx

Morning Joods Likewise it is a very emotional time, They just showed them going past all the crowd with the doors open. One of the news reporters mentioned about the people of Launceston gathering at the hospital to see them arrive, I am not going, I think their will be that many you would not see them. Plus David is up getting ready for work and Dannielle will be up in about half and hour to get ready for school, but I will be glued to the TV. Cheers Sue

Gidday Sue - Ive been bawling my eyes out the last 15 minutes when I turned the telly on ........... great news ........... unbelievable. I am amazed they could walk out on their own, which was what they wanted to do ....... what an emotional time. Jood

Aussieone Report 8 May 2006 21:13

Gee they have made it to the surface. Yes they not only walked out but spent time walking about with family, friends and workers. They are now in ambos to be taken to Launceston Hospital. No words of thanks would be enough for the brave workers who never gave up to get them out. Also a quiet thought for Larry Knights family who laost their son, husband and father.
