Hi Wafflers At least Joodles has a clean mind.............which is more than I can say for Anna and Lew Lew . Got your emails, girls......climbed back on my chair after pmsl. I'll have you know my granny was a good Irish catholic and would not have had either of the things you suggested. Now everyone else is going to wonder what on earth you 2 thought it looked like heee heee. It would make a good cosh, though. Maybe it's some sort of truncheon. A polly waffle to the peep with the most original idea. I've got time for another cup of coffee before bed. Be back later. love Trifley |

Evening all Laurie yes I believe you heard right. On our local news it stated that it looked like only Todd was at the funeral. I was wondering if Brant was ok, but I think it is just all the focus on not only him but his family, they probably just wanted some privacy. Brant actually didnt want to go to hospital, he just wanted to go home, and that is what he said when he signed himself out of hospital, so possibly that is what he did. Also Brant has only been working at the mine for abouot 4 years and originally from Queensland whereas Todd was born and bred in Beaconsfield. I saw the funeral procession go past my place, the harleys put on an impressive show, even if it was on a sad occasion. Cheers Sue |

Afternoon happy Wattlers Great news about the miners. They now deserve a little privacy to be with their families. More prayers to the gods for little Sophie and her parents. Wilson....soooo sorry to hear about your cat. What is the matter with some people? How hard would it be to stop, check the poor animal out and move it off the road? I would be inconsolable if my cat, Winnie, was killed like that. <<<hugs>>> on their way to you. Well I got the boys moving this morning and we now have a lovely, old cast iron bath in the back yard. A bit of rust proofing on the underside and we'll be ready to do the papyrus feature. The bath wasn't near as heavy as we thought it would be so no stretched muscles or aching backs. I managed to put 3 photos of my 'family artifact' on the photo page today. If any of you are interested you might take a look and give me your opinions. Gotta go. Graeme seems full of energy so we are going to do some weeding. Big <<<hugs>>> to everyone. See y'all later love Trifley |

What a good day it is today. I was also in tears this morning, happy tears. It is also so good to see them looking so well. It also brought on thoughts of what it must be like to work down a mine. I expect that many of you have ancestors who were coal miners. My uncle was one. He worked at the coal face with a pick, crawling on his hands and knees. It was in the days before unions. All the coal mines were privately owned and when he had to give up because of his health, there was no compensition. When he died, the autopsy showed that his lungs were completely black. My uncle wasn't a very big man, he was a miner because his father was, as were most of the men who lived around him. He didn't let his son go down the mine and he was pleased that his daughter didn't marry a miner. It was a very hard life then as it surely must still be today. We should give our thanks to all men and women who are happy to do all the dangerous jobs that we wouldn't want to, to make our lives that much better. My prayers are still with Sophie. Love SuzyQ |

Oh Wilson, how sad ((((HUGS)))). Weather has turned nasty this afternoon so I'm glad to be inside with the fire. Hall stand is still looking very nice :) Of all the jurno's I actually like the Sunrise peeps best - they seem very genuine as well as professional. Not that I'm often up early enough to watch them - especially in Winter! catch you later, ~~~~~~~~~Vonny |

Afternoon all Well the local radio station had a minutes silence as respect for Larry Knight to coincide with the start of the funeral. I also hope the media give the relatives and friends plenty of space at this time, all their stories on this event have already been got, or should have. Both Todd and Brant will be attending the service as they have checked out of hospital. I am going to stand out the front of my place to watch them go past, leading the presession will be Larry's Harley then all the bikies will lead the hearse. The council have appealed to all shoppers to the city to not park in a multi storey car park near the church so as their will be plenty of parking for the people attending the funeral. Wonder if they will charge them?? Hope not. Cheers Sue |

Good morning all, I too was glued to the telly with the tissue box this morning - how amazing was that !!!! I also had reason to reacess my opinion of the media role - the scene when Koshie climbed into the ambulance and the obvious joy by the rescued miner (Todd I think it was) at seeing him - the giving of the name tag - the request for a hug from Mel. Then you hear that although they hadn't mentioned it on air they had been exchangeing messages with the guys down there via the rescue team, and had been requested to meet them at the gate - the fact that they had been dinning with the families (apparently Mels whole family dined at one of the families homes) Obviously the support they gave assisted the trapped miners and their families and we should be grateful for that. Now comes the hard part - adapting! The mind boggles as to what they will go through and my prayers are with them to keep it all together. Lew, your invited to join us for lunch at Colleens, we should be in town around 10am, Lauries famous chicken, leek & mushroom pie with salad in on the menu! So see you there around 12 or whenever you can get away. Luckily Ray is having mild weather in Vergas, and yes, he has been to Victoria's Secret for me and done his shopping good lad! It was so hot when we were there this time last year, I remember the margaritas well all the crushed ice! I did a big walk this morning - all the way up to Dolls Point, although cooler, it was nice in the sun - with no breeze. Its a very clear day, with no sign of any cloud, but since I returned the breeze has crept onto the scene and it is a little chillier. The docks are busy, only one giraffe with its head up, just a few dots of fishing boats out near the heads, and no tankers at Kernell at the moment. Sorry to hear what happened to your cat Wilson, tragic person whoever it was that did the hit and run! Von, thats what I got for my mothers day last year, my hallstand, mind you its crammed up in the apartment - but its still lovely. Lunch time, so will catch you all later cheers luv Laurie |

Heading off to my Genealogy group so will catch everyone later. I trust the media will give the families the privacy they deserve this afternoon. So sorry about your cat Wilson. We only have guinea pigs now but lost one of them at the end of last year (aged 3) and it was a tragedy. Photo pages seem to be back - put photos of the piggies on there! Love your photo in the snow Laurie. Anna |

Morning everyone, what a great place we live in. My dad always said real aussies are pig headed b*****ds and just as well ....what a great result for the miners and their families. I heard the news that they were free at 5 to 5 when the alarm went off and turned the tv on straight away, so I sat in bed watching til 8, what an emotional time. Now we need Sophie to recover. Didn't get very far sorting out the study yesterday,OH worked late and couldn't be bothered sorting when he got home....aw well there's always the weekend. Wilson sorry to hear about your cat, why cant people do the decent thing and stop when there is an accident. Back to work....chat later Jude2 (or flakey)...lol |
