Morning all, Ooooo entered in my Burtons on genes tree and now I have them coming out my ears with hot matches! Knew that would happen. (which is why I don't have much of my tree on Genes!) I think I'll just wait for them to contact me :) Waiting this week for a cousin of John's to go to Gosford Historical Society to see if the Kimmisters in their historical records can make a proven match with the Kilminster convict. Hoping, hoping....................... They have a book done of pioneers of the area but I don't want to buy it unless there is a proven link! Busy day today so I'd better go and start. ~~~~~~~~Vonny

Rebs, here's your marriage, but you're going to have to order the Certificate from the Scottish GRO: 1 09/02/1753 CAMPBELL ARCHIBALD MARGARET STEWART/ M FORTINGALL 355/A0 0001 Tony, your Margaret Bailey/ee is proofing elusive. Have only found 1 born between 1855 and 1865, but parents are John and Margaret (Gray), but will keep hunting. Might be able to track them down from the Census. Sue, can't find any marriage of an Adam Elphinstone to an Elizabeth Anderson. Only marriage listed: 23/12/1847 ELPHINSTONE ADAM JANET ELDER/ M AVOCH 059/00 0002 Also, the only Adam Elphinstone birth I can find is as follows: 20/06/1822 ELPHINSTONE ADAM JAMES ELPHINSTONE/JANET MC KINZIE U RESOLIS 079/00 0002 Heather, Here is Robert Murdoch's birth: 15/10/1826 MURDOCH ROBERT, Father JOHN MURDOCH/ELISABETH LAMBIE FR952 M OLD CUMNOCK Image not available on line, you'll have to apply for it. hello all, thank you for your thoughts. Must have been about 500 people at the funeral - she was a very well loved lady. Beautiful service and they finished with the Halleluia Chorus. John came with me which was great to have him there but hard for him as it brought back memories of his mum's funeral earlier this year. Trifley, they debated your artifact today and are still thinking about it: The armour on the guy on the horse looks like Cromwellian period. Might be a 'swagger stick' - military officers stick. Another thought was a handle from a riding crop. They even wondered about druid signs!! The thing looking like a kangaroo could possibly? be the tail of a fish or whale. The spelling is shillelagh and I just googled and found some interesting sites but no pictures. A shillelagh can be long - stick or short - cudgel but is usually much thicker and heavier than yours. Maybe your ancestor made and carved it specially for his wife? The Irish are very fond of the shillelagh! back later on ~~~~~~~~Vonny

Good evening Wattlers Gee Lew looks like you might be busy for a while with Tony, Rebs, Joodles and I have just sent you a pm. Thanks for the offer. Well I am going to be watching the Footy show tonight as they are having live cross overs to Beaconsfield. Eddie and a few others are going to be there and Shannon Noll and I believe Lee Harding will be there singing they had 1000 free tickets to be given to the Beaconsfield and nearby residents, which went in not time at all. We had another cool but fine day today. Same for tomorrow. Cheers Sue

Good evening all, says Jood having had to turn up the aircon from summer temp (shivering I was) .... to winter temp .. (ahhhh that's better). Now to start from the beginning .. <turns page back> Oh Oh ... Mother's day ...... don't talk to me about it .... I dont wanna know what you lucky peeps are doing. .... I already have my card from daughter in Bendigo, and other daughter (the new mum) is in Victoria showing off her bub (she gave me a lovely photo frame the other day). .. So I will be sitting here alone with no-one to talk to, while you are all having a lovely day with your family. .. (But I do hope you all have a nice day) Cuz Laurie ... I hope you are intending to send me a copy of the Hysterical West Wyalong report. Wot about writing up about the Hysterical Mini Mudgee Meet???? ..... btw it was me who reduced the pic, Lew lew ...... just to get our hands and tummies out of the pic (not the wine bottles) pmsl .... sorry it was sooo close up ... but then we were sitting at a small table!!! It was true however, Wattlers, about strangling me (sob) .. so heartless they were! .. calling me a chicken herder! Shaz I really did tried to keep those two in control yesterday, but it was hopeless. .. I'm afraid it will be worse when the Maxi Mudgee Muckup is on. Vonny ... thinking of you. Laurie .. fingers working ok today, the rest yesterday has made them more active now! Jood

Trifley Report 11 May 2006 08:51

Evening Wattlers I've had a busy dau today.........hair done this morning, then loads of grocery shopping. I'm pooped now and looking forward to a drink and putting my feet up. Both my boys are working this evening so it is lovely and quiet here. I think you are all probably on the right line about my 'artifact'. It does appear that something has broken off the 'elbow' end. Perhaps it was a walking stick or umbrella hanfle. I guess I'll never know everything about it until I see grandma again. It's very kind of you lot to think of my retirement but the $2000 bid for Nefer will not go far. So I think we had just better win lotto sometime. Sorry, Lew Lew.........guess you'll just have to find your own 6ft 6in black manservent. This one is gunna stay with meeeeeee haaa haaa heee (maniacal laugh as Trifley rubs his sweaty, black thigh). I have a glass of sherry with my name on it so I might just toddle of and watch the news of the world. 'byeee Love Trifley

Aftrnoon All, Love the 'being a Man' Heather never a truer word spoken Well it sounds as though the cold has finally hit us all by the remarks being aded here, at the moment I am sitting at comp with the heater on, have to or me old bones will lock up he he Lew, Joodles and Laurie have checked out the photos, looking good ladies and I hear a good time was had by one and all Lara isnt that annoying when you lose all you have written, I have learnt now only to add thru the notepad as I always used to bugger it up when just adding on GR, again I really enjoyed our weekend down in the Wonga, it was a great night Vonny, sorry for you loss of friend, and best wishes for your daughter Tony know what you are going thru at the moment, been there done that but you just make sure that your shoulder is always there for her to lean on when she needs it, hopefully you have better luck with the SIL than I did with mine, could still thump him when I look at him but you have to be civil because its the grandkids dad Trifley, was thinking along the same lines as Jude 2, Rob has an old walking stick of his mums aunt with all the old carving on the handle only his is not as elaborate as yours Have a good mothers day Tassie, certainly doesnt sound as mundane as I think mine will be HA HA Laurie, think its going to take a bit more than fencing wire to mend the fence, me thinks she would like to wrap me up in barbed wire sometimes (Ouch) Loved Lews anthem by the way Joodles hope you tried keeping those two in line yesterday, 'I did say tried' Gosh poor old Nefer, hope hes not worn out by Mothers Day, better keep him moth balls for a while Trifley Catch you all later bye Shaz PS Tony HELP, cannot seem to load any of the discs, what am I doing wrong, they seem to be running but nothing coming up on the screen, tried the History Viewer first then the others, will keep trying Have again put in AVRI disc R-Z semm to have put something in but now it is telling me that System Information cannot open this file.Might be corrupted or unrecognised version?

Not a good day for you Von - thinking of you Hey Wino, sorry Trifley . . . I put my money on a walking stick . . . There was an old Greek man in Brisvegas who had a very ornate walking stick, obviously hand made, his d-i-l's father had made it and she told me how her Dad had loved to sit out and wittle away at sticks carving little things. This particular one had animals a Greek Flag, flowers - it was covered from top to bottom in all sorts of things. Couple of questions - how long is it - if short does it look like it has been broken or are both ends finished off ?? My Dad used to have a carved stick too - nothing like as much as is carved into yours - dont know what happened to Dads, or even for that matter who had given it to him. Must ask sister. Gave in got the heater out of the storeage cage . . . smelling a wee bit like burnt dust here at the moment, I am sure the day is getting greyer and colder! Off to cook a pot of soup - soup of the day about to become soup of the week - there is so much fun in cooking for one as much fun as poking your eyes. Cheers luv Laurie
