Good morning Wattlers, I am feeling a bit better this morning and I would like to thank you all for your kind words. You have been really helpful. I won't bore you all with the details, but I have decided that I am not going to let him hurt me any more. Lew Lew, how will you manage for 31/2 weeks with out your hubby LOL. It wil be like a holiday. Just imagine not having to think about what to make to eat. Bliss. I hope you all have luck with the washing machines, and shame on you Tony wanting us to go back to wash boards. Do you have poor Barb chained to the kitchen sink as well LOL. I always had a front loader in England and loved it. When mine gives up the ghost I will get a front loader mainly because they use less water. Rebs, I can just imagine your frustration with the sewing machine. I think you son will have got the message, loud and clear. Michael, I wouldn't buy new things to bring on holiday, wait till you get here and buy them. I found that English summer weight clothes are like Aussie winter ones. Did anyone watch the Winter Olympcs opening ceremony this morning? I missed the begining, but enjoyed what I did see. Thought that the flame lighting was really good. Lets hope we get a few medals. Well, neville is taking me out for tea, just to get out for a while. I have things to do before we go. Love SuzyQ |

Hi all, just back from the construction site. The tilers have been, the lap pool is in and it looks like we'll be moving in end of March. Hooray! No that I mind living in town, but as we were on 1300 acres 30kms from town, it's been a bit difficult. The new place is on 25 acres just 7kms from town. Best go an see what's been happening in the corner!!! Lew Lew |

Evening everyone Am on rest days at the moment, and typically woke up at 6:30 am - shame as it is a day off. Caught up on some washing and ironing (dont I just love ironing!!!). Been out shopping, nothing special though. Spent time on the phone with my mother - who if there was something in the olympics for talking, would win Gold for the UK - no problem. Bless her. Now trying to catch up on inputting on family tree and emails etc Liz |

Hi Wattlers Its a lovely day here on the borders lovely and warm, sweater off basking in the Geordie sunshine..its 8 c what more could anyone ask, except roll 0n next wk.. You'll never guess Sylvia has taken everything out of the suitcases again..What on earth goes through a womans mind when they are packing..10mins for me. Been shopping again for those last minute things. Things that would take just a few minutes for me to buy. There's me standing outside the shop looking like a lamp post..watch out for dogs comming down the street. I stand for hours... Tony bonny lad..We need heating on everyday..whats it like NEARLY turning it on..I see you want to bring the scrubbing board back..Very modern thinking.I much prefer the old poss tub.I would'nt have to worry about a christmas box for the wife I could buy her a new Poss stick every year..The thought has just occured, she may use it on me.Don't think I'll bother. Suzy,,It sounds as if you have had quite an eventful time..But it proves one thing the wattlers are very nice people when you can talk through some of your worries to friends. A problem shared is a problem halved as they say.. Jude ...I liked the job dicription..But if it was for me you forgot to add...Bring wife grapes..Feed wife grapes. Mop wifes brow...Bring wine to wife..Pour wine for wife. Carry shopping for wife...Do I need to go on...! ! ! Laurie...when your shivering over here I will be basking in the Queensland sunshine...When you visit Canterbury don't forget to visit the Cathedral..Anyway Laurie I hope you have a lovely holiday... Joodle belle...Canny size family you have,as for big families. My 3xgt grandfather came over from Ireland during the Potato famine with his wife and seven children. he then had another seven children. His wife Mary died aged 44 and he lived till he was 86... Well its 2-30 in the afternoon and I have to pick up you know who from the hairdressers...I never seem to say the right thing when she has her hair done. Woe is me. canny lad Mike |

Question for Rudee and Lara!! Now that Eddy is CEO of the nine network, does that mean we have to go back to watching everything in black and white??? Just a thought! lol ; )) Joodle, what about Judy in Disguise.....with glasses, like the song title? lol!! Of course, that song was before my time, but I have it on vinyl!! lol |

GRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!! What a crap of a day! Finished sewing yesterday evening, and put a new needle in and re-threaded machine with the color cotton needed first up today. Sat down at machine today, sewed about 1 cm, when machine made clunked and snagged....untangled, unpicked and started again. Clunk, same thing happened, so I checked the tension and re-threaded machine, just in case. Same thing happened again, so this time I rewound bobbin, pulled the bobbin casing to pieces and did a clean & lube job on the machine. (no naughty comments from the British gallery please) Thought while I was at it, I'd be kind to the top half as well, so tried to remove the screw that holds the housing together. Surprise! surprise! Cross head screw, but machine only came with flat head screwdriver. Not usually a problen, 'cept this time the screw is so tight the flat head isn't stable enough. Off I go to hunt for a cross head screwdiriver. Not a one to be found anywhere!!! Kitchen knife finally got the job done. Douse the machine in oil, reassemble, and off I go again. Clunk, snag, stop, unpick!!! Looks like the feeding feet aren't doing their job, so I pull the lower part of the machine apart again to see what might be jamming them. By this time my dining room is a cool 39 deg. I have sweat pouring in rivers down my chest and back, and my shirt is drenched. And I'm not a very happy little vegemite. But I still haven't lost my temper.....yet!! Went through checklist...neddle, threads, oil, everything that I could think of I did, so I put the machine back together and tried again. Clunk, snag, stop. unpick. really p'd off now, I pulled apart the machine to within an inch of it's life. After wasting close on 90 min, overgrown twat son came up to me with a pair of jeans. 'Tried fixing these last night but couldn't, can you???' I took one look at the thickness of the denim, clenched my teeth and saying nothing, put the machine back together, re-threaded.........................with a new needle!!! put a practice piece of fabric under the foot, and away I went. It sewed like a dream. So I stood up, turned to the boychild with my best lazer beam stare, grabbed his shirt and pulled him down to my level. (he's at least 6'2 to my 5'4) Told him very quietly (I'm at my deadliest then) that he can sew his f****ing jeans by hand himself, and if he ever touches my machine again whilst I'm in the middle of a project I'll rip his testicles out through his throat. And I felt much better after that!!! Rebs ; )) |

Wine Trifle - mine (my washing machine that is) - only dings 3 times when its finished, and does a pretty little melodic dance when I tell it what to do. The lid on mine is split, so it folds back. - I dont have an agitator on mine, it just spins back and forth, does a good wash. Uhmm - the brand, you ask? dunno - will have to run down and have a look, and get a refill at the same time (good idea, says Jood) There was something else I was gonna do when I went downstairs, and now I forget what it was :-(( Just read a thread of Honey Rums – called “court today” – you must read it and give her support. Late News – Washing Machine is a Hitachi Joodle < you know I don’t like that name, but efreeone howled me down :-( > |
