Hiya. I havent used my account on Ebay to purchase anything for about 10 months, and I have never sold anything on there. Today I received an email from Ebay - see below. I've tried to log into my account and it says my account has been suspended, I've sent an email to Ebay disputing it, but just wondered if this had happened to anyone else. Thanks Karen |

This is the email (they didnt call me by my name which I thought they did in emails, the email was addressed to my username on Ebay) :- We regret to inform you that your eBay account has been suspended due to concerns we have for the safety and integrity of the eBay community. Per Section 8 of the eBay User Agreement, we may immediately issue a warning, temporarily suspend, indefinitely suspend or terminate your membership and refuse to provide our services to you if we believe that your actions may cause financial loss or legal liability for you, our users or us. We may also take these actions if we are unable to verify or authenticate any information you provide to us. Due to the suspension of this account, please be advised you are prohibited from using eBay in any way including registering a new account. Please note that any seller fees due to eBay will immediately become due and payable. eBay will charge any amounts you have not previously disputed to the billing method currently on file. Regards, Investigations Department eBay AG |

I sent them an email from the website, there was no link on the email, and I typed theyre website address in manually and used a contact us bit on the website, getting worried now. |

if you've typed in the site address, and emailed them directly, then you've done things correctly. It may be that someones hacked your account, I don't know - you'll just have to wait till they reply - sorry. |

I've sent them a message thru the ebay website advising them that I havent purchased anything on the site since March last year and that I have never sold anything. I have asked the reason why my account has been suspended. Hope they reply quickly. |

As soon as I log in it comes up with :- You have been suspended from eBay because our records indicate your account was involved in activities that violate our policies. If you feel you have been suspended in error or want to appeal this decision by providing additional information, please contact us. |

I had a similar email on Sunday but it did have a link which I didn't use as when you hover over it comes up with 'ttp://218.81.122.239:180/r1/e/' not Ebay. If in doubt forward the email to spoof at ebay*co.uk and they reply pretty quick as to whether it's SPAM or not. Anna |

ARG! Ebay and Paypal are notorious for being used by hackers! The e-mails look VERY legitimate. Ebay nor Paypal NEVER send out e-mails like the one you recieved. DO, immediately, change all passwords on your PC, advice E-Bay that there has been a breach in your security, although most of the time an Ebay account is not effected - run your anti-virus in SAFE MODE and if you have banking or credit card information stored on your PC advice the appropriate agencies that they need to contact you via telephone before authorizing any online businesses accessing your account to make sure that they are legitimate purchases being made by you. Most of the time just opening and looking at the e-mail won't do any harm - although opening an e-mail CAN allow access to your PC. If you clicked on the link within the e-mail you've definately beed hacked - to what extent though? Judy |

My ebay account has definately been suspended, as I have logged into my ebay account from work as well and got the same message straight away about my account being suspended. I have contacted them again through Ebay asking them to advise me why my account has been suspended, fingers crossed they will reply by the end of the day, otherwise the redhead temper may just come out :-) I havent had any 'please click on this link below' emails from anyone pretending to be ebay, strangely enough only this morning I got an email from Ebay advising me of their new from 1p auction starting soon - very strange that theyve sent me this email when theyve told me that I'm not welcome on the site and never to darken their door again. Karen Exactly the same thing happened to hubby's ebay account a year ago, also with no reason, also with no notice. he contacted them to dispute it and they did reinstate the account but it took several weeks. And they never apologised or explained why they had suspended it in the first place. Basically they are a law unto themselves (I know this also as I have law enforcement status on ebay and so can require ebay to remove certain listings but they usually find a way to avoid doing it till after bidding has ended and they've got their cut!). Hi Angela Thanks for your message. That has reassured me abit. I have sent Ebay two messages through their contact us facility on their website and they havent acknowledged my messages yet. I have shown the email to a friend of mine that is a Solicitor and they are saying the email is slander as Ebay are eccusing me of doing something without proof. I will continue to send them two messages a day until they acknowledge me, reinstate my account and apologise to me, but afterwards I will probably close my account with them, I dont need the hassle.
