Hello No way is that child abuse!!! I have 4 kids, and they have packed lunch with a sandwich, yoghurt, choc bar and piece of fruit, last christmas we had a table full of selection boxes and such what people buy them and a bowl of fruit, the fruit went first! i give them chips and burgers and kids food, but also food like pasta and chickensauce, mince, and a varied diet, they love the vegatables. We also take them to fast food places sometimes, but they get lots of excercise. The parents who should be feeling bad are the ones who give them microwave/ready meals or fast food or takeaways near enough every day! x karen |

The children are individuals, they know what they like.....but they need educating as to which foods are best for them. parents are between a rock, and a very hard place......... Bob |

Trouble is with ours Len, that we give them nutritious packed lunches, (yes, with a bit of junk here and there, just so they don't think they're denied it) but sometimes they swap this with their mates for more junk! Yes Lunar, you have a good point in educating them to eat healthily. We can't moan too much though, (Bob and I, that is) as daughter loves fruit, and we find that if she eats junk at school, she pays for it later with her upset tum! Have you seen the American kids, too? That's worrying. |

Yes and no! No - they may need educating on healthy eating, they may not be able to afford healthy food and junk is cheaper, the child my refuse to eat healthy food so it's the lesser of two evils, the child my eat healthy food at home so whats the harm Yes - the parents are responsible for the childs wealth fare and should provided the child with food suitible for there age that is health. If the parent failed to feed the child it would be niglect (a form of child abuse) so why should they not be charged if they over feed the child? |

1 child in 5 is clinically obese. A study of childrens' school lunch boxes reveals many of them take such items as crisps, pork pies and packets of sweet biscuits and other junk food to school for their mid-day meal, despite all the information that is available for healthy eating. Should parents who provide their children with unhealthy food be charged with child-abuse? len |
