Twins in most generations of my late Dad's family. He himself was a twin but the other one didn't survive. My sister miscarried twins at about 3 1/2 months. She didn't have any more children. I myself only had a single birth.... would have loved twins. |

Rumour has it there were twins on my husbands side but it would have been earlier than 1791 and none show up on that tree until 2 sets born in 1956 & 1958 of very distant cousins. On mother-in-laws side her grandparents had a set of triplets born in 1888 but all died, and she believes they also had a set of twins of which one died but I haven't proved that is right. On my side coming from my great grandmothers side there were 7 sets of twins, but none had twins themselves. Starting with the 3rd generation there was 1 set born 1757 but they never married. In the 4th generation there was 1 set born 1789 but none of their descendents were twins. In the 5th generation there were 3 sets of twins born 1821,1834, & 1836. In the 7th generation there was 1 set born 1856 In the 9th generation there was 1 set born 1974 [directly descended from the 1821 5th generation] |

My 'other half' is a triplet-----one of 3 boys all natural. So glad it missed me, but I've told our children to look out!!!!! Funnily enough, I found triplets on my side of the family(way back) but sadly they all died. Sue. |

Jess, I'm not a multiple birth nor had any but have two sets of twins every generation in my family. My mums mum was one of two idential sets, my grannie had two sets, one identical one not, and my mum and one of her sisters both had a set of identicals each. My MIL had two sets of twins and one set of triplet siblings. Glad I quit while I had one. LOL |

Sets of fraternal and identical twins can run in families. Fraternal twins are produced by the relase of two eggs and identical twins by the release and split of one egg. The incidence of twins is down to the mother alone. It is not 'passed' by the father even if he was a twin or there are twins on his side of the family. Viv |
