re: the ball in the lift/on a moving train it would bounce in relevance only to the force that you exert on it changing its speed or direction. Because the ball is laready moving at teh speed of the train when bounced it would not move sideways (unless you bounced it at an angle then it would move sideways on a diagonal slant) same for lift - the ball is within the lift and moving at the same speed as the lift so when you bounce it it continues to move at the same speed as the lift rather than stay where it is and the lift come to meet it. I'm sure this has all got something to do with centrifugal forces - but don't quote me |
