Maybe it's better that you didn't know what the appointment entailed before you went! I certainly wouldn't have wanted to know! I'd have been scared silly and very nervous!! At least the worst of it is over. Sounds like you were brave!! Hope the next appointment isn't so bad and that your tooth will be fixed for good! Joanne |

Evangeline - its the needle that I hate too. Only needed one inj*** today, but he kept it in there for ages, thought f-i-l's fingers were going to snap off lol Nick - well the inj*** hurt, but not the rest. Some of the doo-dahs were so long I thought they were going to come out under my chin! Your dentist sounds lovely and very understanding. Mine is calm and quietly spoken, that keeps me calm too. I am quite proud of myself! Maz. XX |

But maz..........did it hurt...? I used to hate going due to a really bad experience when i was 18........and would put it off until i really needed treatment.....but then found a really good dentist and he put my mind at ease. I started by just going and sitting in his room and talking......... next time.....had a sit in the chair.......... next time he had a look in my mouth........but not with anything other than his fingers........ I could choose what music i wanted to listen to etc and he had a big poster on the ceiling of the road he was on at the turn of 1900.which i would just focus on and take my mind off what he was doing. I was a total dental-phobe.......... I'm going on thursday morning and dont even get slightly nervous anymore....... Nick |

Bless your cotton's. At least it's over now and you don't have to worry about anything for another week or so. I hate going to the dentist in fear of having to have injections (horrified of needles!!!). Sx |

Well I am back in one piece. A while ago a really old crown in a root filled tooth snapped off. So today I had to have it prepared for the new one. What I didn't realise was that he had to replace the old root filling and I had a 40 minute appointment! The things he put in my gob would not be out of place in a medieval torture chamber! The drilling made this horrible smell of burning, which I can still taste now. Then he sealed the filling by putting his doodah (no not rude lol) in a flame and sticking it in the hole in my tooth - big curls of smoke came out of my mouth !!!! The best I can say is that it is done, but it was effin orrible! I couldn't have done it without my wonderful father-in-law, who will probably regain the use of his hands in about a week! I am going back to get the crown fitted on the 27th. Thank you to everyone for your support, it really means a lot. Maz. XX |
