Anne, My daughter had exactly the same thing as you - but the other end of the 'hormonal spectrum' being only 14. she tested negative for Glandular fever and we were at our wits end to know what to do. She had 10 weeks off school - and they were not sympathetic despite her falling asleep in lessons ! Just taking her to the doctor was a nightmare - it meant she was so drained she slept for the rest of the day. On our worse day she was asleep for 19 hours at a stretch! (and this is someone who is normally happily awake at 6am every morning). She is now monitered for thyroid function and iron regularly, takes extra vitamins, and actimel or similar to boost her immune system. We still dont know what she had - but you will get through it. Get tested as Viv suggested, Best wishes, Elaine. |

Hi Anne I felt like that 2 years ago with several docs telling me there was nothing wrong then eventually a very young lady doc tested me for loads of things and I was diagnosed with an underactive thyroid and going through the menopause! Many pills later I feel a lot better though still sometimes very tired Ali x |

Glad you have done the right thing Anne, as it is not normal to feel so bad, and you certainly dont have to put up with it. They will probably test your hormone levels and you will be feeling like Spring very soon:-) XXX BC |

OK - Doctors booked (seeing GP not nurse) for 10.30am tomorrow - had already pleaded with boss for day off cos I just don't think I can physically manage to come to work. Thanks for all your comments. I will put my hand up and admit that Yes - I don't exercise Yes - I drink a fair amount of tea, diet coke, and occasionally alcohol, and No - I am not the most inspired person in the kitchen so my diet leaves a lot to be desired. But, I have never felt like this before :O((( I am certain it will come to an end soon - you know all the little signs ?? but it's just taking too long now !!! |

I agree, think you should go along to your surgery, just to check. I'm also a big believer in yoga, both my Mum and I go, she's 63 and finds it a real help in a lot of ways. Good luck xx |

Anne you poor thing, I feel for you so much. I cant help personally, having had a radical at 30, so not gone through any of this myself. But I do urge you to get whatever help you can from your G.P, They must be able to do something to help. Hope things will sort themselves out sooner rather than later. Meantime, and I know its easy enough to say.......but try and keep your chin up, how strong we women have to be eh?? (((((((hugs))))))) Lin |

Oh Ann Poor You, maybe you should go and see the nurse maybe she can suggest some ideas of a non medical kind. What's your diet like, maybe you should do a bit of exercise. Nothing strenuous. My mother in law is late 50's and does yoga every week, she feels so much better for it. Do you drink coffee and tea, alcohol (not that I'm sugesting anything) try cutting this out. If you do all this anyway maybe you should go see the doctor. |

I need a quick-fix remedy for severe hormonal lethargy - or should I go to Docs and see the Practice Nurse??? Some of you may recall last month I was asking about the menopause, this was prompted by a 'blip' in the normal cycle of things .......... this blip is now 65 days old and even just being awake is a struggle - let alone any physical exertion!!! I can't wake up in less than an hour - my body feels like a dead weight so that just walking takes every effort, and I swear if I closed my eyes just now, I will be asleep in seconds ............... I don't know what to do with myself except cry !!!!!!!!!!!! LATEST UPDATE page 2 |
