Morning our Joanie! Daughter's headmaster states in a letter that as he has dinner ladies, caretakers etc striking he cannot ensure the health and safety of our children. Don't these other schools have caretakers and dinner ladies then?!! And funny you should mention the rubbish collection. I didn't put mine out this morning, but just 10 minutes ago I heard what seemed to be the dustmen in the next street. They usually get to me just after dinner, so I'll wait and see. My friend works part time in a library so she isn't in the union. Everyone else is striking but she still has to go in even though she won't be able to open it to the public. She did have the choice of going out in sympathy, but she would have lost a days pay! |

Both my eldest are off. Rubbish bin is out in the hope that they had called it off and will collect. Can't go to library for hubby as they are out. No swimming pool for kids to go to Multi storey car park shut. Not teachers on strike is all the TAs dinner ladies, caretakers, secretaries, Schools are open if the board and heads think it isn't a health and safety issue and can get rouond the free school dinner situation (have to provide a meal for those on free meals) |

all my kids are at school, I don't of any local school on strike... suppose it wil depend on which union the teacher belong to??? aren't there at least two different unions? |

I think it's to do with which Union you belong to, Mrs Haddock !! Unison is mainly council workers (don't bother putting the rubbish out today lol) & other local government employees. A lot of Teaching Assistants & Lunchtime Supervisors (dinner ladies to you & me!) are in Unison. The teachers themselves mainly are NUTS (ehm!) or other professional bodies. I think - apologies if i'm wrong! :0) Joan xxxx |

Theres only about 3 schools in Hereford off due to strike, 2 secondary and my kids primary, i suppose it depends on how many people are on strike in the various schools. Star |

My youngest is off school today due to the strike. So why is it that the schools in 3 neighbouring villages are all open today? |
