Paul - I love these stories as they remind me of my son, now 23. In the hospital one day I had taken his nappy off and turned to get the other one, he was laying in his plastic crib. Suddenly a shout went up - he had peed up and over into the cot across the ward, all over another baby! He also managed to pee straight down my dad's tie, when granddad lifted him up without a nappy on too. Must remind him of these little mishaps. Oh and when he was older, we went to the coast with some friends and went on the bus for a change. On the way home son was busting to pee, so had to squat over the beach bucket! Ever tried to carry a bucket full to the brim (he had overfilled it and some had trickled to the front of the bus as we went round a corner) off the bus and quickly to the nearest drain!! Another thing he did was eat a tissue (poor starving babe). I used to do jewellery parties at people's houses, so took him to my parents whilst I was out. He was laid on the bed while I got ready and then I saw him chewing a pink tissue. I got some of it out of his mouth but it was obvious some had already gone down. I daren't tell my mum or she would have been too nervous to look after him in case there were after effects - luckily he was ok and I told her when I got back. He also managed to pull a little plastic bobble off the end of a grow chart I had hanging up in his room, and he ate that. Doctor said not to worry just to make sure it came through ok the other end. What fun trawling through his nappy till it appeared. I was glad it was bright yellow so I could easily spot it! By the way Paul, don't forget the obligatory photo, son on his back on a sheepskin rug showing his all. Great bargaining photo in years to come.

My younger daughter 'exploded' while sitting on my lap at the opticians! I was about to have my eyes examined. The assistants kindly let me use a back room to strip off while my husband rushed back to our car to fetch a plastic raincoat I'd left there. I did feel silly leaving the optician's dressed just in that coat on a beautiful hot sunny day! We had to go home for me to have a good shower and they arranged another appointment for later in the afternoon. Kids always do things like that at the most inconvenient moments! Sue

Paul, ` Congratulations` to you & your OH on the birth of your new son! Linda xx

I found the best (?) times for this to happen was when we were sitting in the clinic or the doctors surgery. Baby wearing an all-in-one suit (babygrow) so when he 'exploded' it ran all down his leg and inbetween his toes. Others in the waiting room wiggled their noses and looked the other way, and the doctor decided NOT to examine said baby and we were told to come back next week! Sue xx

Paul OH was carrying baby daughter in sling on his front, in a shoe shop trying on new trainers, when she exploded, brown stuff all over her, him, shop carpet, and trainers. Poor lad serving was v. young, and had no clue how to help. I of course, should have been able to, but could not stop laughing long enough to do anything constructive! Needless to say, have never been to that shop again...

Little boys you have to remember to put their bits downwards when putting nappy on or it just comes over the top of waistband. Eldest daughter again when I was still in hospital weren't gonna let me out as she had slight jaundice and was very quiet (didn't cry in hospital) they told me if she didn't liven up they would have to look into it. We had to eat all together at a long table, a baby started crying and no one moved so figured it must be mine. Went to check her and she had filled the goldfish bowls they sleep in. I was soon allowed home.

My first born once had a very liquid 'explosion' which leaked out of the side of his nappy and all over me - we were in my bed at the time. I leapt out of bed and went to the shower, leaving husband to sort out pooey baby and the bedsheets. Ugh! As for vomit....been there, washed the t-shirt. nell

Our daughter and her husband went out leaving the aforementioned son aged about 17 to babysit. When they got home they found he had changed her (admittedly only wet) nappy. He said he couldnt leave the poor little blighter to stew in her own juices! Daughter didnt have disposables at that time.

Our young son was lying in his canvas carry cot in the summer of 1960. I was busy working. When I glanced in I found he had exploded and kicked off his nappy and painted everything including himself a lovely shade of kacky yellow/brown. Husband was at work and I didnt know where to start cleaning up. Felt like taking the whole lot down to the river and throwing them in! This was pre-disposable nappies.
