Zoe , cant have been if we haven't even exchanged! maybe i have assumed too much- conveyancer needed my 'difference' money ready for the cheque to be cleared ''in time'' last week - going to check my bank accout to see if the cheque has been cashed yet or not - hope not.

Jess you need to ask your solicitor whether a completion date was set in stone when y ou exchanged and what sort of compensation you can expect for your expenses for him not completing and also if yur buyer tries to get compensation from you if that wil be passed onto him. I know you're doing the move yourself but you'll have to rehire a van, unpack your essentials so need to buy more stuff to repack etc. There your facilities e.g. gas, electric, council tax which you've probably cancelled by now - if there's a difference in council tax will he pay, will you have problems reconnecting or will you be charged for it? oh - and a huge HUG for you babe. It is part of exchange that a completion date is set and entered into the contract. That's the whole point of exchanging contracts! Has your conveyancer definitely exchanged on your sale and purchase? If so what completion date was entered? If he has exchanged on your sale without the purchase and entered a completion date which has passed they you will be served with a notice to complete and charged interest!
