Purple **^*Sparkly*^** Diamond Report 5 Apr 2006 02:45

Daniel - why not look for somewhere like a social club for your brother to attend with you - it would give your mum a break one evening a week and you would learn from it too, and maybe get some material for a play or book out of it too. The more experiences you get under your belt (like all those in London recently) the more you can write about. Would your brother be able to join a Scout group if you went with him, or a Cub one if he is too young in nature to be with Scouts? It would be good for the other Cubs to learn how people are different and might help your brother if he could relate to working for a badge or something. Or could you take him swimming or somewhere like that once a week, it would let your mum have time with your sister too which would be nice for both of them. Wish your mum luck with her jobs - I have done both of those and it isn't easy, especially when she always has the worry of your brother at the back of her mind. Good luck in finding something to help all of you. Liz

I don't think for one moment that Daniel intended to sound callous, he was just writing in the 'shorthand' of young people. he has said about his brother before and I know he cares and is concerned about him. it must be hard on your Mum Dan to have to do three jobs so maybe it is a good thing that she has been forced to give one up. Are there no clubs for children like your brother in the area. he really needs the company of young children to learn to interact with them. I hope your Mum finds a solution to the problem. Ann Glos

Dont think Lems is weakening BC... i just think she is worried people who have not yet had the pleasure of meeting Dan might be forming the wrong opinion of him. Mind you.... from what he put on his other thread.. i think everyone might be meeting Dan at some point ! Pmsl, Sue xxx

Well, I'm going to leap in here with both feet. I understand how things might look to someone reading Daniel's contributions for the first time - BUT - he does have a distinctive style all his own. I'm not chastizing anyone who has posted or anything like that, but just felt the need to point out that Daniel is one of a number of young folk who contribute to this forum who demonstrate a keen sense of humour, and a wit and wisdom beyond their years. I look forward to their comments and wish them well for their futures. Daniel doesn't need me to stick up for him and I'm not really doing that, just pointing out that there's more to a person then their most recent thread.

Lemon I have laughed at some of his threads when he is cheeking you lot, and though he desn't know it he is the perfect tonic when I am in pain and feeling sorry for myself, so yes I agree whith your discription of him. Bev

Speedy Report 4 Apr 2006 21:13

Lemon I agree with you, after reading some of his threads he does care really, but it's his matcho image he has got to protect..lol seriously he does seem like a young man who does care. Bev

I didn't think Daniel sounded callous at all. Seemed more like he cared. Mau XX

I think the reason maybe it sounds callous is Dan tends to write in quite a blunt fashion, even if he is joking, but he obviously loves his brother and sister very much, as he dedicated his book to them. I have also seen him on web cam with them and he was quite patient and not at all offhand with them. Now he will give me a telling off for sticking up for him a bit.....don't know why I bother....but he is better to watch with them than he describes here.

daniel it sounds like you want to get away, dont take that the wrong way, i know your a young man, but out there its bills , expense, roof over your head dont come cheap, and you have to make your own food and do your own washing, lol you need to think hard, your mum will then worry about you , and wonder why you left, theres no rush to leave home really, your warm, looked after , and carefree, dont rush it luv, plenty of time to be independant, trust me, have fun , enjoy stuff, and take your time

Daniel, my friend's daughter is autistic. She takes her to social groups three evenings a week where she has the chance to mix with other people with similar disabilities. It has helped her. I really do sympathise as people with any degree of autism can be exhausting for all the family.

Daniel Report 4 Apr 2006 20:41

No worry about that yet, but do want to get off sooner rather than later. Shame that there isn't a great deal for my brother to do and really no lads his age in this area. He's on medication for his fits too so really not the best situation but he copes really well.
