No Len not at the moment. There might be a time in the future when I'd want to be prepared but at the moment if I died tomorrow it would be cool - my life ain't perfect but I love it. I haven't made a success of my life but I've had some great experiences and known some fantastic people. I have no dependents so as I see things at the moment I'd rather if it was a suprise. |

A few months before mum died, she made a comment right out of the blue, about how much she missed dad. She had lost him thirty six years before. We had not been discussing him, she seemed in a world of her own at the time, as though she was forceably willing herself towards him. At 88, I think she felt that she had lived long enough. I have experienced death already at 32, when I had to be rescusitated after major surgery. Since then, I will never fear it again. I think the two things that people fear most is not death itself but, the fear of dying in pain and the fear of leaving loved ones behind. If we are lucky, we only leave behind those who we wish to live on for many years to come, our children and grandchildren, they are our future, they carry a small part of us forward in time. When it becomes our turn, we have already lost the majority of people who otherwise counted to us, parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles and so on.............. Nevertheless, and in reply to the question, I would wish to know, because I would make quite sure that I enjoyed every moment I had with those I was about to leave behind. Lin |

Marie .............. I was told by an active person in their nineties that it's too long to live ................ friends and partner gone and younger generations going before them just leaves you sad and lonely (and frustrated coz the brain gives you the will but the body can't keep up!) ............... ............... Basically I was told to live life to the full whilst I'm fit enough to enjoy it! :-))))))))))))))))))))) |

My dad always said that the only sure thing in life is, that one day opticians and undertakers get us all eventually, I’ve had my glasses for the last 6 years, so not long now? Roy |

Personally, I wouldn,t want to know but lets think about this for a moment. Wouldn,t it make the world a nicer place to live in? People would live life to the fullest, not wasting precious time on silly quarrels or hatreds. Also, would there be any senseless murders or wars? All we,d have to do is check on peoples 'sell by date' and know when we,d be shut of them. |

Len - I really believe we all have a 'use by' date stamped on us on the day we are born and its up to us whether we reach it or not by what sort of lives we lead!! I am defo not going to reach mine but I'll have had fun getting to it!! xx |

Esmeralda - I've just had a chance of watching Esther Rantzen's documentary 'How to have a good death' which I recorded a week or two ago. Very thought-provoking, particularly as my 'use by' date is long gone. len |

Well you can find out the likely life expectancy, but that means nothing. I read The Time Travellers Wife recently, although it was fiction, I think it shows quite clearly its best not to know what lies in the future. nell |
