Last one had entries to 11.15pm, 21st, and is well worth a read, but was getting a bit unwieldy. Post in a minute. Happy days

I love all birds and get full value from my outlay on food and boxes etc. Is that a general view? They are all god,s creatures but some can be hard to love. Which birds would you give ASBOs to. I don,t have any noisy ones, but the magpies are my particular dislike in the garden - thieving devils. Cheer us all up with some lovely bird tales as well. Happy days (from sunny cheshire)

I thought of you today Harry as i spotted a PAIR of robins in my garden!! :O) Asbo goes to the pigeon!! Magpies - I love them, they are so majestic!! :O) But why aren't any birds eating the nuts I have put out?

ASBO goes to the woodpigeon who sits on my roof at 5.00am and will not SHUT UP! OUtside our flat, about 10 ft away is a laurel hedge, thick and green all year round. Last year the blackbirds nested there, this year we have a pair of Blackcaps!!

Don,t get seagulls, but when I see your title and location,I think of them - will have to think differently now. Pink, if they are not eating your nuts - they are eating someone else,s tit-bits. Patience, dear lady ( said before that my birds prefer to eat off the floor, despite several roaming cats) Teresa, someone might come up with a solution. the rest sounds lovely. Thanks for the interest Happy days

I was in the rest area at work the other day, taking 5 after a bad call, and I was watching a pair of woodpigeons courting on the wall opposite. They were so engrossed in each other they didn't see the squirrell creep up on them and headbutt one of them out of the way!! Much loud flapping of wings at that!

Harry, I live in a very rural area, work in an exceptionally rural area, with a wood nearby, and STILL haven't heard a cuckoo :O(((

My asbo has to be for the (big, fat) pigeons (and the squirrel!!) that eat all the food we put out for the little birds.

Hi, Having just moved to a house with a HUGe garden Many trees and whatnot, I am fascinated by the wildlife that I am seeing, obviously the squirrels that I put nuts out for and if I am not up earlt enough they come to the patio doors to see what is going on, I have two hugely fat pigeons that are so dozy and ungainly that I wonder how they can fly!! There is at ;east 1 robin who is building a nest in next doors garden, those birds with are very dark (brown or black) and deep custard coloured beeks are very chirpy, there are those little birdies that have a blue head and back and a yellow chest, beautiful they are. Can you guess that I know absolutely jack about birds :-))) I am waiting for a hedghog, cos I love them, please, if anyone is going to feed them NOT milk, given them cat food!! I have 5 cats, the birds and squirrels seem to know that 4 of them couldnt catch a cold and there is only 1 that needs to be watched

Q: For how many hours can I listen to the Cuckoo I can see from my kitchen window, before either I am committed to the local asylum or get arrested for talking a catapult to it!!???? LOL It's driving me nuts......last week it was the great tits going on and on all day.............I wish they could vary the ''tune'' a bit! Merry

Merry, on the larger bird-watch thread, the lack of cuckoos was a talking point - so at least you are pretty much unique. XXX Tina, re below. Late in the year, but goodXXX Happy, if disturbed, days

Merry Report 5 May 2006 12:45

Ooh, you beat me then Tina!! I wasn't really listening for it.....just thought ''I wish that b****y bird would shut up'' - then realised it was the cuckoo........It's funny - when you watch it, you'd swear it's ''lips'' were not moving!! Merry

Tina-Marie Report 5 May 2006 12:49

Merry, It's strange how you long to hear the cuckoo then.....once heard, it drives you up the wall. lol Same with the peacocks - don't they go on! Still, I consider myself extremely fortunate that I have nature on my doorstep. I saw a small herd of deer yesterday too, have never seen them before, just Lovely. Tina

My Asbo would go to magpies. Horrible things! I hate it when they go through all the nests taking the eggs. Heard the cuckoo yesterday for the first time this year. My favourites are robins. we were greeted with a funny sight yesterday. A poor little robin flew into an old shed we were clearing out and got completely wrapped up in cob webs. Poor thing had to endure OH picking him up and untangling him.
