Val what a dreadful thing to happen. I'm so glad they didn't hurt her but she must be terribly upset and shaken by the experience. Daisy

Sorry to hear your awful news. Does your local police have a Victim Support contact that they can give you? I know of a lady that volunteers for it in the Surrey area. Is it a national scheme that may be able to give her some support. My Nana wore a special alert necklace around her neck in her house when she lived alone. It was linked to the phone somehow that when she pressed the big red buzzer the local council offices were alerted and there was someone on the end of the phone that could assist in an emergency to summon help. Can your council give you one of these for free to reassure her in future and also how about getting a door-chain fitted by the council? I hope she is feeling better. My Dad had his wallet stolen off him last year and I know it really knocked his confidence and made him very shaky for a few days and he's 20years or so younger. Claire

Val - Could this 'whipping' be very public? I am so angry at this type of thing I would love to witness the pain and sense the demoralisation of this pondlife. Sandra

Val I am so sorry to hear what happened to your Aunt. But with the news this week regarding the non-deportation of criminals after serving prison sentances, your Aunts dreadful experience leaves me boiling. As you said they were White, non-english, so that must narrow it down for the Police a bit. I could go on and on as a similar thing happened to my daughter in Portugal a few years ago, robbed of passports, and trying to reconcile myself to the fact that there could be someone in this or another country posing as my daughter..... they had a field day, in all about 11 passports, holiday money, cameras, mp3 players, jewellry all gone. Filling up with rage as I type.. My thoughts to you and Aunt Sandra x

I just dont understand how somebody will find an excuse for them. I guarantee if they are caught some do gooder will defend them saying what a hard life they have had. They meant no harm and were just desperate etc. etc. How many times do we have to endure this sort of thing before we stand up and say enough is enough.Lock them up and throw away the key.

Oh Val so sorry to hear this. Hope your Aunt is alright and she maages to cope okay. What sort of people ( and I use the term loosely) could do this to an old lady. My blood just boils at the thought. when/if they're ever caught, why doesn't the punishment fit the crime? they should get a beating! make them sorry for what they do. Maureen
