My favourite dinner is: (calorie laden-what else?) It's called hebridean chicken in our house. Basically it's chicken breasts stuffed with black pudding (stornoway stuff is the best!) wrapped in streaky bacon, served with a cream sauce made from the cooking juices of the chicken and some parsley for colour, served with either roasties or mashed tatties, peas, baby sprouts and a wee yorkie pud to have some extra mmmmmmmmmness!! This can be adapted for using haggis or smoked cheese. enjoy!! |

Lindy----I have to say i was brought up in a fairly not well off family and due to that kinda upbringing can make a meal out of anything (nearly!) no but seriously i reckon that's what's up with some people too many e numbers (my son can't have many e numbers) and I was horrified when a friend only a year younger than me phoned to talk her through how to make macaroni cheese!!! she was trying to use cornflower for the sauce!! |

Son is having fish fingers and oven crunchies - reverting to his childhood menu! LOL Husband is having jacket potato with baked beans and cheese and a side salad. I am having Birds Eye vegetable rice to which I am adding prawns, sweetcorn and chopped hardboiled egg. My VERY favourite dinner is egg, bacon and baked beans on toast (would really like fried bread but too much cholesterol!) For pudding hubby & son are having neopolitan ice cream in a meringue nest and I am having fresh fruit salad. Sue (proprietor of the Langley Vale Caff!) LOL xx |

Well for all those who want to know (*sniff* no one asked the poster what her's was *sniff*) Tonight matthew, me, hubby & taz devil (aka my adhd 7yr old son) are having home made bolognaise, home made garlic bread & some co-op choccy mousses. And I have to say bolognaise is home made not out of jar, garlic bread is a baguette sliced & filled with home made garlic butter but obviously mousses are not home made as I've picked them off shelf in co-op this morning. It's just to show all the oldies (eeeek! gona get hate mail now!) that some of us young uns don't have to use a microwave for everything!! Will let you know my favourite meal in a mo gota answer phone a sec!! |

Two thick steaks covered in fresh ground black pepper. Heavy bottom pan with a bit of olive oil and butter, when very hot, add steaks, let cook for a few minutes, turn steaks and cook for a couple of minutes. (depending how well done you like your steak) Remove pan from heat and remove steak from pan, add a bit more butter and return to low heat, stir in thick cream, tablespoon of cognac or whisky, tobasco and salt to taste. Put the steaks back in the pan together with the fried potatoes just to coat them in the sauce. Serve with fresh bread and a salad. Enjoy!! |
