My BIL makes it with the milk in cup first, my hubby goes bananas. BIL says it does'nt stain the cup. Does he wash up? No!. Hilary.

The trouble is that putting milk in first, or even leaving a cold spoon in the cup takes away the temperature you need to get the best from your tea bag. It was different when we used teapots.

Jim it's a question of breeding! No breedin: cold milk, tea bag then hot water and quickly fish out said beg = dirty dish water!!! Good Breeding: Warm tea pot, add tea leaf, add boiling water and allow to steep. Pour tea in to tea cup with or without tea strainer - add sugar then milk to taste. Drink with little finger in the air!

I put the milk and tea bag in if I'm having to wait for kettle to boil. But, I do leave the tea bag in for ages anyway as I do like strong tea.

LOL Jim I hate it if the milk goes in first - just doesn't come out the same does it ??? And try explaining to all the coffee drinkers I work with - that a cup of tea needs to be made from a boiled kettle for best results - not with hot water from a water machine that only 'heats' it to a nominal temperature !!!!!!!!!!!

I'm with you on that Grandpa Jim, I always add the milk after I've left the tea to 'brew' for a bit.xx

Why is it that Itinerant Vendors of Hot Comestibles find it so hard to understand that in order to make tea the BOILING water needs to be in contact with the tea bag long enough to soak up colour, flavour and other ingredients? And as for the idiot who puts the teabag in the cup, adds cold milk and then the hot water.. words fail me...
