Bottled water will not rehydrate no more than tap water. Its the sugar and salts that need replacing Try squash with a teaspoon of sugar in, that may help. Elaine x

Think I'll get hubby to collect some bottled water on way home from work. Why is dioralyte so disgusting?? Tried sneeking it into squash but short one nor his tummy agreed with it. Is it 24 or 48hrs before doctor decides if it needs treated?? Think I'll try our nurses base if he not improving later to see what they reckon :-)

the sport drinks dont seem to have the same colourings that the origional lucozade has. also when connie was sick the other week, we bought chewits just as a bribe when the nasty antibiotics were taken (vile really vile) we found having the odd one gave her a suger boost and made her feel better enough to be able to drink more etc. of course sweets are not a long term answer. All I can suggest is to go but some bottles of mineral water. That's what I would do.

oooh might try the grape thing :-)) Our water here is like pure bleach there's that much chlorine in it to fight of germykins!! (apparantly dead stag/sheep/frogs aren't healthy??!!) I have to put some sorta squash in it even just a splash to take the chlorine taste away. Everyone tells me give him lucozade and i get funny looks when i say he can't have it then they go 'oh i don't know what else you can try.........lucozade always works for me!' Any other ideas anyone?????

Any Isotonic sport drink, such as lucozade sport When littluns up to eating, chrisps as well as (replaces salt) Drinking through a straw often appeals too, and will draw up more fluid quicker Elaine x

Lucozade? Good grief such sweetness would make me worse if I was ill. Water all the way usually.

If he can have it, proper coke, the red and white stuff with a little sugar in to take out the fizz, it stops nausea, also, I know this sounds crazy but it does work, freeze grapes and let him suck them, they taste really nice and are very soothing.........

Hi there, the short one in our house has been struck down by the worst tummy bug ever.....since early hours friday morning he hasn't kept anything down(or in!) it's a shame to see him lying ill on the sofa, as it's something he never does(7yr old adhd kid!) treid dioralyte, squash, ice poles, fruit shoots anthing to get some sorta fluid back into him. He got roaring temp too but got paracetamol/ibuprofen for that though. I cany give him lucozade coz the colourings that are in it, he's not allowed........anyone got any other ideas how to rehydrate shorty????? Me had v lazy day though! watching all the harry potter films and supplying juice/bucket/cuddles as and when was needed :-)))
