We have a lot of lovely places near here, Longleat is just up the road, and Bath about 10 miles away. Bourton-on-the-Water in Glos, which Ann mentioned, is absolutely gorgeous. Also Westonbirt Arboretum is beautiful too. Our all-time favourite though is the Bournemouth area, and we have one of those static caravan/mobile home thingies in Poole. We were so lucky to get a plot with a raised view over the estuary; it's lovely to arrive there on a Friday evening and sit looking out on the sunset, glass of wine in hand ......! Mandy :) |

The Bowes museum near Barnard castle, a huge french chateau built by a rellie of the queen mother, filled with the most fabulous things, then if your feet will let you, go in to Barnard castle, buy an ice cream and go for a stroll, it's a lovely day out. |

I've always loved riverside/seaside towns - Chester has always been a particular favourite (although it's only 12 miles from home !), also Stratford-on-Avon and Southport have a lot to offer. |

Anywhere on a canal - parents live onboard a narrowboat. If you haven't tried it you MUST. There is nothing like the slow rippling of the water against the bows, the soft vibration of the engine and the constant chugging noise. The changing scenery where kingfishers dart before your eyes like strobe lights. The fish jumping at dusk to catch the gnats hovering above the water. The sunsets, the ducks, the cows in the fields, the local pubs close to the moorings. Need I go on? xx and home - the South Downs wrap right around our village, so no matter where you are they're always there. |
