Gwyn in Kent

I played many of these games too. There was another game where a group of children stood in a row with their backs against a wall. Another child stood facing them about 10 feet away. Group chanted something like :- ' Please Mr Crocodile may we cross your golden river in your golden boat today'? ( never thought before, -what odd words !!) Crocodile:-.... 'Only if you've got blue on' ( or other colour choice) Any children wearing that colour then ran like mad to get to the opposite 'bank' before the crocodile chased and caught them. If caught, they would become Mr Crocodile. Gwyn

Gwyn, we used to play Please Mr Crocodile too, but used to ask if we could cross 'your coloured water'. I went to school in North Cheam in Surrey. My children played it too at their schools in Epsom, Surrey. I've never heard my grandchildren playing it though - I must ask them. Sue xx
