My two favourite sayings are: As mad as a box of frogs! As useful as a chocolate teapot! Just like them and use them whenever I can. :o) |

It'll all come out in the wash... Up the wooden hill to Bedfordshire (as we were going up to bed) Get on causie (short for causeway, meaning pavement.) Hold yer horses! Dudoos and tuffees were sweeties. Snap was lunch. (all taken from my grandma, now sadly deceased). And from everyone who lived in Mansfield, 'Ey up me duck, yor rate?' And yes I do miss living there. |

If we asked what was for dinner, my Nan used to say 'Bread & pullett'. My friends Nan said 'Duck pie & (h)are under the table'. Both came from South London, mine from South West (Putney/Wandsworth) & friend's from South East (Kennington/Peckham). We also had 'I want never got' and if we asked where something was that we couldn't find, it was 'under my left armpit'. Sue xx |
