No Butterfly thats anew one on me, there must be millions of sayings all unique to their area of invention.my people came from E London and my mother had one for every day of the week.

If we asked what was for dinner, my Nan used to say 'Bread & pullett'. My friends Nan said 'Duck pie & (h)are under the table'. Both came from South London, mine from South West (Putney/Wandsworth) & friend's from South East (Kennington/Peckham). We also had 'I want never got' and if we asked where something was that we couldn't find, it was 'under my left armpit'. Sue xx

It'll all come out in the wash... Up the wooden hill to Bedfordshire (as we were going up to bed) Get on causie (short for causeway, meaning pavement.) Hold yer horses! Dudoos and tuffees were sweeties. Snap was lunch. (all taken from my grandma, now sadly deceased). And from everyone who lived in Mansfield, 'Ey up me duck, yor rate?' And yes I do miss living there.

I loved 2 expressions/sayings used by my parents, when surprised or disbelieving..... Well - I'll go to the foot of our stairs! and Well - I'll show my a**e to the roundabout! Never did work those out. lol

My two favourite sayings are: As mad as a box of frogs! As useful as a chocolate teapot! Just like them and use them whenever I can. :o)

Yes have heard A okay used to be used round here. My Mum used to say when I wanted something she couldn't afford. Yes when my ship comes in (was always waiting for her ship to come in)( never did ). My favourite What goes around comes around. One our kids use when someone is being silly they are Noggin the Nog don't know hwere they got that from. Germaine x

We used Noggin the nog with my god daughter and it got sortened to noggin. Noggin the nog was a kids tv programme.
