I saw on the news a couple of months ago, that ITV had bought the rights to Friends / Genes reunited, and wondered what would happen. Perhaps this is it, a change in the subscription rates to recoup back their layout!!!!!!!!!!!!! Lynne

I have just renewed my FR subscription and they say its not due again until June 2007, and I only paid £7.50. What is going on with them and how can they charged different amounts? My bank statement shows that they have not even cashed my cheque yet (as of Mon). Love and Peace Marianne.x

The only problem there is, if the friends you want to contact haven't renewed, then I don't think they know you want to contact them do they? PS found i'm subscribed till Aug

I didn't renew on FR after my first year for the same reason as Elaine - what was the point in renewing when I didn't want to contact anyone? If & when I notice someone I want to contact, then I'll consider renewing. Very sneaky the way they've snuck that in. We'll have to keep an eye on this site too, in case they try anything. (Not that they'd manage to sneak much past us without being caught out pretty quick!) Carole

Well it's a long time since I went on FR, used to get e-mails telling me when others had joined my old schools, but haven't had them in a long time either, it was usually at that time that I went for a look. Sending messages to old pupils didn't always get a reply, so assume they haven't renewed or else out of touch and not updated their new e-mail addresses, so all in all not a very worthwhile site to belong to. Will have to go and see if i'm still a member, can't even remember that! (might account if not, why I don't get updates)

Maybe I need to explain my last post Only the first few lines were visable. I decided to copy paste them. When I clicked paste..more info appeared which did not show up on the friends page I copied This is what was visable and what I highlighted to copy paste :- (Ive had to type this rather than copy this as the copied content is appearing different) Elaine , renew with one click... Amount: £7.50 for all-inclusive membership of Friends Reunited until 28 June 2007 You will be able to send unlimited messages to as many people as you want until 28 June 2007 I highlighted the above text and clicked copy. What was pasted on here is below...totally different to what had been copied by myself.and what was visable Ive tried this several times and have had the same outcome. Elaine , renew with one click... Full membership costs just £7.50 . It takes less than a minute to renew, you'll then be able to: Send unlimited messages to anyone listed on Friends Reunited Reply to messages you receive from old friends Use the message board services Why do we charge? Allowing only paying members to send contact emails helps prevent misuse of the site and stop unsolicited mail (spam). It also means we can advertise Friends Reunited and attract new members - helping you find more old friends. Click here to renew now Amount: £7.50 for all-inclusive membership of Friends Reunited for six months You will be able to send unlimited messages to as many people as you want. Amount: £7.50 for all-inclusive membership of Friends Reunited until 28 June 2007 You will be able to send unlimited messages to as many people as you want until 28 June 2007. Hope this explains my earlier post better E x

As long as they are telling up that the expire date is 12 months away, they are obliged to give us the full 12months and not the 6 months that they are giving you. *Have just add a copy of the page containing the expiry date for renewals today on the the next-generation photos page*

i joined both at the same time and to be honest i hardly ever go onto friends anymore had two or three contacts and didnt realy get out of it wot i wanted where as here i have made friends that have outplaced the ones i was looking for on freinds reunited. Genes better not follow suit as i think for the £9.50 this is a brill site and i enjoy all aspects of it. just wish that the chat board was a bit faster f5 or refresh gets a bit tedious sometimes.

Just got this back from FR. Thanks for your email We have checked the site and cannot locate where you have seen the text, please send me the full details of exactly what you have clicked on to see the two sentances, so we can investigate further. As a gesture of goodwill I have upgraded your registration until: 26/06/2007. I hope that you enjoy making contact through the site. Regards Now I can't find where the 2 conflicting statements are to email them back! Deb

I have emailed them asking them to explaine why for 7.50 there are two different lengths of time for subscription renewal, ie. 6 months and 12 months. I'll let you know what they say. Deb

I will email the accounting department back, and ask them why they are showing conflicting renewal details. Now it's down to a matter of principle! Deb
