Deb Vancouver (18665) Report 26 Jun 2006 17:30

I renewed my (expired) subscription last night. The usual 7.50. I looked at my new expiry date and it had move forward 6 months until December/06. Thats not right thought me, it should be until June/07. so I fired off an email to their accounting department. I received this back: 'Friends Reunited membership is now £7.50 for 6 months. This means that the renewal date is correct.' I wonder when Genes will follow suit? Deb

I found that out the other night .... meant to let everyone know, but got carried away with the contact on FR. It's daylight robbery ... and I'm glad it wasn't MY membership that was being renewed. Hope it's worth the money for you Debs Elaine ;-)

ooooohh. how sneaky is that, I am on and off F/Re all the time and (luckily by the sounds of it) I renewed mine back in april so got the full 12 months, I must admit though., looking at the site over the last couple of weeks have not noticed any announcements re the membership shortening to 6 months,, they must have just slipped that all in without telling us mere mortals!!! Duoble the annual subsription but will it be double the value-- me thinks maybe not, only time will tell.

Rachel Report 26 Jun 2006 17:35

WHAT!?!? well I denfinately won't be renewing That subscription then!! I hope GR don't follow suit though! lorraine Friends Reunited has always be a pay to use site - it was much the same as here, you had to pay to send messages and to post on the message boards. I payed for both GR and friends last Feb at a total of £17.45 (£9.95 + £7.50). You must have been lucky on joined during a promotion of some sort.

I decided not to rejoin, yet something else that has gone up since ITV took over. How sneaky though not to announce it. I hope somebody sends a letter to one of the national papers so that it is made clear. ann Glos

Ive not rejoined. I dont post on their boards anymore as ive found all the friends I want to. You only pay to email someone.so I may as well use the site for free. If I find someone who I really want to contact, I will pay the fee. BTW I can have six months membership which will last me for a year (LOLOLOLOL ! ) >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Elaine , renew with one click... Full membership costs just £7.50 . It takes less than a minute to renew, you'll then be able to: Send unlimited messages to anyone listed on Friends Reunited Reply to messages you receive from old friends Use the message board services Why do we charge? Allowing only paying members to send contact emails helps prevent misuse of the site and stop unsolicited mail (spam). It also means we can advertise Friends Reunited and attract new members - helping you find more old friends. I will email the accounting department back, and ask them why they are showing conflicting renewal details. Now it's down to a matter of principle! Deb

Deb Vancouver (18665) Report 26 Jun 2006 18:38

I have emailed them asking them to explaine why for 7.50 there are two different lengths of time for subscription renewal, ie. 6 months and 12 months. I'll let you know what they say. Deb

Just got this back from FR. Thanks for your email We have checked the site and cannot locate where you have seen the text, please send me the full details of exactly what you have clicked on to see the two sentances, so we can investigate further. As a gesture of goodwill I have upgraded your registration until: 26/06/2007. I hope that you enjoy making contact through the site. Regards Now I can't find where the 2 conflicting statements are to email them back! Deb

Lorraine Report 28 Jun 2006 08:09

i joined both at the same time and to be honest i hardly ever go onto friends anymore had two or three contacts and didnt realy get out of it wot i wanted where as here i have made friends that have outplaced the ones i was looking for on freinds reunited. Genes better not follow suit as i think for the £9.50 this is a brill site and i enjoy all aspects of it. just wish that the chat board was a bit faster f5 or refresh gets a bit tedious sometimes.
