i have to get this thing removed on monday by , the plastic surgeon - at the hospital. BCC = basal cell carcinoma. a little left to the centre of the forehead. i'm hoping he's really conscienscious and treats me to a mini face lift. i can only hope. over here in australia, doctors probably can retire at a very early age with the amount of 'things' they have to remove |

Thanks Susie - just a little scared at the moment. Just the Docs gereral attitude to the whole thing. When he asked when my flight was the alarm bells went off! I asked if he would take more off around the area if the results came back negative. No, he will be sending me to a surgeon. This one looked different than the other pre cancerous one. Paul. - I think that I have already torn a stitch or two! There is blood visable under the waterproof dressing, But then again it is just (4-5') above my knee so what do I expect! |

I've had loads of moles removed. I'm a moley person. I had one on my neck removed, and they covered it with a big plaster. I had an allergic reaction to the plaster, and it became swollen, and my stiches ripped! Very painful! |

Hi Deb, I can truly sympathise with you. I had a monsterous one taken out of my lower back when I was just 11. The Dr said he had never seen such long roots on one before. This one was being very irregular it would go from the colour black to blending into my skin tone which is very pale. To going flush with my skin and then coming out in a raised lump. If it is any consolation honey I had test run on that one and it all came back clear!! Good luck with yours and hoping you are on that flight! Susie xx |

Thanks Germaine, Julie and Ann I had a suspicious mole removed about 5 years ago from the same leg.. Turned out to be pre cancerous. The difference this time is that he skipped the punch and removed it and the area right away. Reason being was the accelerated growth of the 'mole' He is the one that mentioned the 'M' word, but it was in the back of my mind. Melanoma is a deadly cancer. BUT! I went in after I had monitored it for about 2 months. The people who die are the ones who leave it for a year or two and then get it looked at. Fingers crossed that it's NOT melanoma. deb |

I was at the Docs yesterday and mentioned to him that I had a 'mole' that has developed over the last 8 weeks or so just above my knee and it was getting bigger. Well, I was back today for what I thought was just a simple 'punch biopsy'. Nope - he CUT out the 'mole' (more area covered than a punch). The freezing is just wearing off after 9 hours! I get the stitches out in 10 days. He wanted to know when I was going to England, because depending on the results I may need to go and see a surgeon. Please keep your fingers crossed that it is not melanoma and I will be on that plane in 30 days :) Deb (having a glass of red to numb the pain ;)0) |
