Another (local) newspaper did a test on just seven people. Only two were able to identify the tap water. Happy days

I live in Poole in Dorset and the tap water here is probably the worst in the country (or not far off). I use a Water Filter for making tea etc. but still get a lot of tea stain on my cups and still have a problem with lime scale. I drink bottled water all the time, but if the tap water was ok then I would happily drink it - when I go to Somerset I drink the tap water and always laugh at the small amount of soap I need to use to wash my hands compared to here. lol Kaye x

I hate the chlorine and other chemicals that are in tap water - and use a filter jug, not just for drinking water but for tea and cooking too. Anyone notice the brown stain you get in tea cups/mugs? You dont get that with filtered water. And if the combination of tea and tap water does that to china, what does it do to your insides? lol '99.96%of samples of drinking water met British and european standards'. = pah! We all know how the 'standards' keep changing. Like they said we must have floride - and now say too much isnt a good thing. But I believe it's still put in our water? Only time I buy bottled water is if I am out and get thirsty. Cant stand the artificial sweetners in most soft drinks nowadays, so wont buy them.

Living near the Cleveland Hills, our tap water is better than most bottled water :) and, as you said, tons cheaper lol I only buy bottled water if I go abroad, or if we go to the cinema (it's cheaper than what they sell lol)

hi harry, are you trying to put ' delboy ' out of business :o) a good alternative would be to buy a water filter, it must be cheaper to run, than buying bottled water. having said that, i read an independant report a couple of years ago, regarding ' lakeland willow mineral water ' which said that due to the water trickling over the bark of willow trees, had a remarkably good affect on the skin, and often cleared localised skin blemishes. bryan.

The tap water in my area is full of lime and you can taste the chlorine so I use a Brita water filter, you cannot tell the difference between this and bottled water and it is much cheaper. Roy

Thanks girls. For what it is worth the article also says '99.96%of samples of drinking water met British and european standards'. That doesn,t mean to say it tastes good, but I would guess there are examples of'Peckham' bottled water, out there as well. Happy days

People who insist on buying botteld water on health grounds are wasting their money, a watchdog said yesterday. The Consumer Council for water said tap water was just as healthy as the bottled variety, did far less damage to the environment and was at least 500 times cheaper. Shoot this argument and yours truly down, if appropriate. Happy days
