only got neighbours on one side, they're nice to chat to over the wall but tend to keep themselves to themselves unless they want something. Two years ago, they went to France for six months and asked me to look after the home. I was armed with keys, phone numbers and various instructions about the garden. I dutifully checked their home every two days. I went round on my last check to find they were home and just on their way out shopping, so couldn't stop. Do you know what really hurt? They didn't even thank me. I know you shouldn't expect gifts but I thought a postcard or a bottle of wine wouldn't have hurt!

read all your complaints guys, really what some of you put up with is a disgrace. Do we now live in a society where nobody cares that their actions affect in a detrimentle way those that live around them.

It's all a matter of degree - the first lot of neighbors we had next door were annoying because they broke county ordinances about watering their yard during watering restrictions, parked one of their cars (registered in another, cheaper county) on an illegal, unpaved driveway, that kind of stuff. Didn't actually disrupt my life. They sold to a maniac who, among other things, engaged in minor drug dealing, built onto the house(over a period of two years and as his own contractor but with young day laborers he picked up each day from who knows where) without a permit, had a string of boyfriends who he was always fighting with (police always here), kept his aged mother in the Bates Motel i.e the basement, and kept us all to scared to say anything to him. He eventually had the house reposessed by the bank and it was empty for another year. The new owners have some annoying habits like leaving for work at 5am and banging the car doors loudly right under my bedroom window - thanks to the addition, see above, they now have to park close to my house. They chopped down lots of trees, and have spent lots of money fashioning the yard into a Japanese style garden which sticks out like a sore thumb here in Georgia, and is totally out of place in among the pine trees and dogwoods. I know my somewhat jungly, ivy covered, full of trees, 'natural' landscape must annoy him every time he comes outside. I do try to be quiet when I let my dogs out at 1am before I go to bed. I pick up after them too. The neighbor the other side of him has had numerous heated discussions with him, over stupid things, but I think it pays to save your big guns for when you really need 'em.

I live in a small close of 13 houses, with 26 parking spaces. So why, when I come home from work, can't I EVER park outside my own house - and sometimes can't park at all? And why does my neighbour have to have SIX cats, which all think my garden is their personal toilet? OC

Could it be Lee that more people with bad neighbours are replying than those with good ones:) I hardly dare reply because I don't want to tempt fate. After all we don't neccessarily keep all our neighbours for ever. However, I will risk it and say, of 10 houses on the close 9 are brilliant, and NO the other one isn't us:)) Even the 10'th one isn't too much of a bother at the moment and they aren't next door:)) Chrissie x

I have read all your threads, and it seems that some of you have neighbours from hell, and it makes my neighbours seem not so bad. It's great if you can get on with them but it seems nowadays that most people dont.

They think they are the only ones with cars in the close.............sick of asking them to move their cars so i can get on my drive...........away shortly thinking of leaving a bed of nails....as i have been told by others that they use our drive when not here. R.B.

Don't get me wrong, they're nice people. But god she has a mouth on her! Caroline on the other side is the nicest neighbour you could ask for! She's always getting our bins in etc. Couldn't ask for a nicer neighbour.
