Oh Lindy I'm sorry but this is so funny. Your OH should have given you his jeans and he gone in a footy kit. I hope you all had a nice time anyway. If this happened to me OH would have his jeans off in no time, cos he knows I wouldn't have spoken to him for days otherwise. He dosen't like the silent treatment, but it works.lol. catherine xx

That was funny. Sorry but like out of a sketch! :-) The question, erm, well there was a wrap around skirt thing there. That was a female fashion item, not men's pants, so in my eyes things turned out for the best under the circumstances.

Our holiday started off very badly, it did not end too good either. Our eldest son drove us to Faro airport in the early hours of the morning to catch a flight to Lisbon and from there onto Recife in Brazil. He has a two door Opel Corsa and I sat in the back with some of the luggage piled on top of me. For those of us who are on the large side know how difficult it is to extract oneself from the back of a bucket seat. With his usual gentlemanly manners Vitor, my husband gave me a hand out, and I thought I felt something rip but at the time did not think anything about it. Finally, we disposed of our luggage and I was first though the metal detector without any incident. Not Victor, he had to empty his pockets which were filled with coins, keys etc...The second time through the alarm goes off a second time.In the meantime I was trying to pick up all of his coins and kept dropping them as there were so many and I got the giggles. Unbeknown to me I had a large rip in my cotton pants from the crutch going down the back of the knee exposing flesh and underwear. ( To be precise flesh colored underwear ) Finally, we got through customs etc.. and were able to sit and relax while we waited for our flight to be called. The moment I sat down I felt the ice cold metal on my cheeks and to my horror realized that my pants were torn. I removed the light tan colored jacket I was wearing and wrapped the arms around my waist while the back of the jacket covered my behind. I was not too bothered as I know that the duty free shops would be open in Lisbon and I could buy a skirt or pair of pants. I was horrified to discover that the only shops available to me were menswear, all designer pants and small makes. Then there was a sports shop and a shop that sold bikinis and scarves. My darling gentleman of a husband suggested I get a pair of football pants and shirt to match. Red and white, Benfica his club. So I said to him that he should get his football colors and wear them and give me his jeans....which he refused to do, and insisted that they would not fit. I said that I did not care if they did not close. I was not flying in men's football gear. In desperation I looked at the long scarves. After explaining my dilemma to the saleslady she found me a wrap around scarf, one size fits all that falls to your ankles, those that the young people wear over their bikinis. It was flowery in yellow, white, brown and a gold thread and totally see through. In desperation I bought it and the saleslady was kind enough to show me how to wrap it around my waist and tye it in the back. I have never felt so naked in my life. The worst was still to come, while we were climbing those steep stairs onto the plane the wind was howling and lifted all dresses and skirts high into the air and my ankle length scarf wrapped around my head and their was absolutely nothing I could do about it. I have always thought of my husband as a gentleman but in this instance he has failed miserably. He insists that he is a gentleman but no way was he going to hand over his jeans. Your opinions would be appreciated please! Lindy
