Sally. I think that the two arrested in Pakistan made them realise that the attack was imminent so they had to bring forward their plans for arrest. Just in time it appears. Brian (i)

I'm a bit puzzled over this one Still Looking, because on the news earlier, they said that they got their information from two British born, of Pakistan origin, when they were arrested in Pakistan last week. They have also said that Tony Blair appraised George Bush of what was happening when he went to the US over a week ago. Now who is right........have they just stumbled across this by accident or...........have they been keeping them under surveillance?........

Sally Moonchild Report 11 Aug 2006 21:35

I was surprised that the Bank had put the names and ages of the suspects on their website. The papers have also printed their addresses...........I though that they must be really sure of their guilt to have done this, but I don't know how this is going to appear to a court of law............innocent until proved guilty..... If they are guilty then damn them to h*ll, but I must agree with Bacardi, that I did feel sorry for the Dad, he seemed in shock.....

Natural reaction but someone in the family would have had some inkling what was going on. It is all to easy to tun a blind eye and pretend something isn't happening when people know perfectly well what is going on. Just look what happened at Finsbury Park.

I always think no smoke without fire and for the Bank of England to act so quickly there must be something. I do feel for their families though - it must be awful to hear what had supposed to have be planned by their children. Joanne

Green

Green Report 11 Aug 2006 20:47

This is relevant to this thread but please give me a minute. I have a close relative that suffers from schizophrenia; please don't post any split personality jokes because they don't actually apply to the ailment which has got such a bad tabloid-like press. The illness has many ways of showing itself and not always in the negative way it is usually publicised. We have done everything possible we can do as a family to try and look after her, including numerous alerts to the authorities about certain behaviour traits but we've discovered that we aren't actually listened to, and they can only react when something goes badly wrong, and only then if the crisis team, God lov'em as they can't be everywhere at the same time, isn't otherwise engaged with some other poor soul in the area. This has been a difficult confession to make but it holds true of families that are entangled in this latest 'net'. You can not be responsible for the activities of another human being even if it is your own flesh and blood, but you will do your best to defend them if it is. God be with them. I'll delete if anybody tries to make light of this

Just wanted to add my tupence The men involved in July 7th attacks were spoken about in the same way. People said they were nice, kind helped their communities etc. They were sons, brothers and fathers - didn't stop them from doing what they did ! Vikkix

Every parent would hate to think it was their child but is difficult to know without all the info what is going on On our local one they were interviewing people about the two that had been arrested and they were saying they weren't the terrorist type sorry but what do they expect them to be like they aren't exactly gonna have it tattooed on thier forehead are they

Brian(i) Report 11 Aug 2006 20:22

These people may well be innocent. A terrorist ploy is to plant evidence on innocent people, inform the authorities so that they, the authority, are put in very bad light when they are found to be wrong. The trouble is the authorities cannot ignore the 'tip off' and must act. The shyster type legals then jump on the band wagon. The authorities are in a 'no win' situation. They are wrong if they act and are wrong if they don't. I think Enoch Powell was right. Brian (i)

I don't think you can know 24/7 what your kids are involved in. Some only find things out when it's too late and they are as surprised as everyone else. I do hope these boys are not involved, feel for their poor parents. Nanna-M :(
