I was born and bred east london.Moved away 1979 but still one of my old school friends still calls me SCRUFFY.I came from a big family and he was an only child.He was posh and i was scruffy.Tables turned now so i love my nickname Annie

i'm glad u agree with me nanna,hubby did when i had it said to me on the phone. after the call he said i thought something was said that u did'nt like cos of the way i reacted. he said after i told him what i was called i'm suprised u let him off lightly.nice to now some men no when to hold their tongue

I was asking because my OH is a north londener and since meeting me has moved away...and he call's everyone darling and love,and sometimes he gets looks(and it is from the older generation)as if to say 'pardon'?????????? And Jennifer(hope u don't mind) my mum says the same...

Depends on how they say it or what the sentence is that they're using it in. If its patronising in any way they can go and stick it, but if its friendly then fine. I do hate it when people use my first name when i have no idea who they are - like at a hosp appointment etc. Or is that an age thing....:0)) Jen
