i thought we looked a like lol. ive got o'hare s there mum and dad from ireland . just found out last night scotish birth certificates have a lot more info on them , it gives parents place of birth too .

Get yourself on to Scotlandspeople.you can print off your images. £6 for 30 credits. 1 credit per search,5 per image. a lot cheaper than buying a cert. You will get parents names as well as spouses on them and occupation..a good worth lol Marion

Hi Lorraine, if you give me the name I'll look up 1881 Census disc for you. Any of them born in 1855? If so heaps of info on them - think the only thing not on is their shoe size! Date and place of parents marriage is on the certs as well and from that you can get the marriage cert and then their parent's details as well taking you back another generation. Try curiousfox (G**gle it) that gives you some details about others who might be looking for same people (free to look at and I think you can send a message) and also maps of the area at the time. Also scotsorigins which is free (parish records) and freecen (follow links for Scotland) gives you free access to 1841 and other censii as far as have been transcribed. Apart from that, just G*ogle Govan and see what comes up. Main industry at the time was Ship-building but I'm pretty sure there was a Sugar refinery there as well.

Snap then Polly! On my grandfather's side although all the menfolk were born, married and died on Skye most worked on the docks in Glasgow to actually earn a living!

thankyou everyone the dad henry o'hare was a ship riveter so i guess he was on the docks too . hi woody by what i can make out they were on there way from belfast , did a bit of work in govan ,his wife popped my great granny out in 1876, then they moved on to sunderland .
