Diana Of course you are not being selfish - he is just being thoughtless!! And sounds to me like his priority is just getting your pressies to his children !!!!!!!!!!! Seems to be a brother thing - mine forgot my 40th birthday - with present arriving as an after thought about a month later on Father's day ....... wouldn't mind but I remind him of Mum & Dad's birthdays March and April - then mine is in May, so it shouldn't be hard to remember And it's not like we are a large family - just my folks, me and him and his wife and children. We will be going to him this year and all mucking in to help etc in light of SILs recent news.

Purple **^*Sparkly*^** Diamond Report 24 Nov 2006 02:46

I have two brothers, both married, one has a son, the other two dogs! When my parents were alive my son and I always spent Christmas day with them, I even had to tote all his pressies there so they could enjoy watching him open them. After lunch which Mum always insisted on cooking, my brother with the son would turn up and we would spend the rest of the day together, or I would take Mum and Dad to childless bro's home for tea. The Christmas after my Dad died (he left us in the January) I asked my mum what she wanted to do, if she wanted me to bring her to my home for Christmas lunch, and she just casually said 'Oh G. has invited me to have lunch with them at an hotel.' They didn't bother to ask us so my 7 year old had to have his Christmas for the first time without his beloved Grandfather and without seeing his Nanna too. Both my brothers are so wrapped up in their businesses and making money, they don't bother to make contact and I am beginning to feel I don't want to continue to make the effort any more. I have already told my son that when I die, he needn't bother to let them know, and I don't want them turning up at my funeral or sending flowers which would be large affairs to show off their wealth. Thank heavens for friends, as you said Diana, so rightly. Liz

I think I have to finally realise that no matter what he means to me I don't mean the same to him now he has his own family! David...... I can't invite them to me as I have a tiny 1 bed house but I do understand what you are saying! I know that if he did invite me i probably wouldn't go but Dee is right for once I want him to think of me!! ;o( I am probably wallowing in self pity right now but hey i'll get out this mood soon.... or at least by Dec 26th!

Sometimes I think it is just a people thing. 3 years before I met OH - both his parents had died & he is an only child. He has some lovely cousins - male & female - not once though did any of them invite him for Christmas :-( For our Christmas I thought just for one year I'd like to have just me OH & boys - just so I've experienced but will prob not like it! Anyway I said to my brother - could you invite Mum & Dad for Christmas this year. Brother says 'Nah we like to spend every Christmas now on our own!!!' The other Christmas we had about 15 for Boxing Day - lunch all cooked - waiting for brother to arrive - 20 minutes late - no apology - just explained he was watching the horse racing!!!! Other years 'I will only come if someone picks me up so that I can drink!!!' Here endeth my thoughts on male & female relations!!!!!!! Penny
