my dad died way back in 1977 but I still get emotional at christmas time even more so now that I have 3 grand children. He loved children and he never got to be a grandfather as he died aged just 47. I hope you and your family do find some enjoyment and have time to reflect upon your mums life as well

So many of us here have lost our Mum's.... and Dad's ... Some maybe years ago now and some of us very recently. My Mum, I know absolutely loved Christmas, it was her favourite time of the year. Mum loved nothing more than having her family around her at Christmas and maybe having a bit of a 'boogie' at New Year. It will be 6 months on New Years Day since she slipped away. This year is going to be terribly difficult, very emotional, but I know that for myself and my family we are going to make an extra special effort this year (as we always have) to make it a wonderful Christmas. I will probably have my own private thoughts and I'm sure there will be tears and I don't know yet how I will cope but... The last thing Mum would have wanted would be for us to be unhappy on Christmas Day. So I, for one, will raise my glass and make a toast to my Mum. I love you Mum Gaynor xxx
