Hi Gaynor, Thanks for this thread, and I too will make it an extra special day for my family. We will carry on the tradition that my darling mum always upheld. Set the table with the best that you have, dress up with the best clothes you have. Raise your glass to absent and lost loved ones, and be glad of your family around you. This will be my first Christmas without Mum,I was one of the lucky ones, she was 94,so she was around me for a long long time. I will think of all of you,who has lost a dear one. God bless. Trish xx

I’ve cooked the Xmas dinner since, forever and mum and dad were always over for the day. I won’t bore you but most Christmas days were tense and terse comments were made….but always later regretted. Unfortunately both mum and dad are dead now, funny; I’d do anything for a terse comment with them now. Mind you dad gave us a REEAALL laugh one year. Drunk, he fell asleep. Then halfway though a film he wakes up and calls out…. “….and there’s another thing”, pointing at the window. We all turned round to see what he was pointing at, and back again....rofpmsl…..he’d only dozed straight back off, flies undone, belly too full from grub. A truly fond memory!!! To all those no longer here I raise a glass Caz

I'm sure my Mum will be and although we may not be feeling 100% I know my Mum will be holding us all close on Christmas morning when I know we will be feeling very emotional. My mam died at 12.05 am on Boxing Day morning,we are sure she 'hung on in there' so to speak so we wouldn't have the extra grief of her anniversary being on christmas day.!!!! It will be 6 years this year and sometimes its like yesterday ,but it does seem to be getting better,we also lost my brother in law ,my cousin,s husband and my best friends sister all within three months just before and after that christmas. However we do and I hope we will continue to spend christmas like we always did with our families and friends, it changes each year due to births, marriages and sadly deaths, but on the whole we have the wonderful christmas that my mam ,and the others would want to be sharing with us.(And probably are ,somewhere) Brenda
