How nice for you When my grand father died his 2nd wife burned all their photos as she thought that nobody wanted them. Never thought to ask anybody first just in case. Mum was so annoyed. So now you can have it digitally restored and enlarged Best Wishes to you and thanks for the help you have offered through out the year

How fantastic Reg, I bet you're absolutely thrilled. Photos are part of life now that cameras are so cheap but the majority of pictures just get stored away and not looked at for years. But the the really important pictures are the ones we hold in our minds and hearts. We can always summon up a picture of those we love and of important events but it is also nice to have something physical too. You never know, maybe there may be more where that came from. Have a great Christmas. Dawnx

My mother died when I was 7……..my father re-married, and then he died when I was just 15. I joined the Army in 1962, and when I went ‘home’ on leave, found that my stepmother had destroyed all the albums of family photographs which related to my childhood with my parents. Her ‘reason’ was that, because I hadn’t taken them with me, I obviously didn’t want them! My father’s funeral in 1956 was the last time I had any contact with any ‘real’ relations………. until January this year, when I had an e-mail from a GR member, who turned out to be a cousin. I had last seen him and his two siblings in approx 1944, when my mother and I visited them. You can probably imagine how I felt……….. We’ve kept in contact through the year, and I’ve also had ongoing contact with his sister, which has been so gratifying. This morning, I opened a Christmas card, and out fell a photo of me taken shortly before my second birthday………sent by the youngest sibling, whose first contact this is. So, when anyone asks me about my ‘best Christmas present’……..there’s no doubt what my answer will be………. Merry Christmas to all GR friends………from a very happy Reg
