I sympathise, did something similar myself in 1994. left taps running and plug in (AND WENT TO BED!) Being hard of hearing and OH being away I didn't hear anything. walked out of the bedroom in th morning onto soggy carpet. Switched off taps, ran downstairs to dining room (under bathroom) More soggy carpet! It had dripped steadily through the ceiling through a hole it made in the Artex. The ceiling never did come down and didn't stain. We had all new carpets on the insurance eventually because they shrunk, so that was hall, stairs and dining room and lounge (we have an L shaped lounge diner with a partition but joining carpet. The insurers didn't quibble and let us choose where to get the carpet from. I, with the help of a neighbour, mopped up with a borrowed Vax which sucked the water out of the carpet. Hope you are dry now Dawn. Ann glos
