its called a unique card and you apply on line. tenner fee for the card plus either six quid per month or one pound per transaction - up to you. top it p at the post office, takes 2 days for credit to appear pm me if you look but can't find xx

only downfall of this that i can see is that payment will only be by credit/debit card - so for those of us without them will be stuck to using the old system

opps sorry lol At the moment, in order to get a copy birth, marriage or death certificate, you have to first search the GRO indexes (quarter by quarter unless you're lucky and find it on FreeBMD) either on-line, at the Family Record Centre or at the relevant local register office. When you have the required reference you then pay your £7 and order a copy certificate (again, either on-line or in person)! As from next year you will be able to search the complete records by name on-line and download a copy certificate. Presumably there will still be a fee involved, but it should be a lot cheaper than £7. The downside is that you will just get a plain paper copy, but there may well still be the option of paying for a 'proper' copy!
