Ann I was thinking the same as you. Nobody who knows me would say I have particularly strong opinions, I just like to join in the discussions, especially as my OH, lovely as he is, is one of the strong silent types, so without this I would hardly 'speak' to anyone all day. Liz

Liz Yes, everyone is entitled to post on these boards and no, there are no cliques. Like any social situation, there are people on here who have formed groups of friends over the years. I think what Maz is saying - and I agree with her - that it's a bit strange when a few new people arrive and aren't in the least bit shy and tentative with their first posts. They leap straight in and have sometimes been 'over familiar'....even insulting! Mandy

I wouldn't know if people are old or new posters. Does it matter, everyone must have been a new poster at one time. I thought these boards were open to everyone or is there a clique of a few GR members that the rest of us are not supposed to reply to/comment on their posts? I agree that people shouldn't make personal remarks about others, but that should be so, no matter how long someone has been posting on the board. Liz

Hi Jan Jarrow (as opposed to Jan Scatty lol) I think you have the same attitude as I do to being 'new'. I remember feeling exactly as you say (still do sometimes!) but it does get easier as time goes on and you get to know others and be known by them. Sounds as if you will be a very welcome addition to Genes :-) I look forward to seeing you posting in the future. Maz. XX

Hi Sal, there were 2 new posters I noticed yesterday, both of whom were expressing extremely strong opinions about people on this board. One of them made some accusations on Deb's 'complex' thread, then deleted, the other was critical of certain types of posts. It just struck me as a strange co-incidence, so I thought I would comment and see if anyone else had noticed. Jean - I never say anything on here I wouldn't say face to face - you are right, I expect others to behave the same! Gotta go now - need to go and see what my mum has done with her central heating *sigh* - see you all later :-) Maz. XX

Hi Sal - I'm all for new faces coming in, the more the merrier - I just get a bit puzzled when they start throwing their weight around immediately! Hi Sue - I've seen your name loads, so you are not a newbie. Maybe I'm a bit odd (people I have met would agree with that lol) but I like to behave on here as I would face to face with people, ie getting to know them gradually and trying to make a good first impression with everyone. it just struck me that's all - have noticed it happen before too :-)) it unsettles me when there is a name I don't recognise who seems to know so much about us all - let alone when there are several on the same day! Maz. XX

they're like the buses lol none for ages, then 2 or 3 seem to come along together! I've seen several new names today, don't remember seeing any new posters for ages before that though. I read the boards for ages before I plucked up the courage to post. It seems the new posters are still doing that these days - they certainly have strong opinions about us all! I was very timid when I first posted - didn't want to draw attention to myself! Maz. XX
